World Championships - Oct. 20-28

Colon up on Mat B vs Dubov (Bulgaria) in 61kg quarter.
Oohhh, both guys looking to go big but Colon slips behind for two, then turns Dubov for another two. 4-0 Colon.
Again both guys look go to big but Colon takes Dubov straight to his back, now up 8-0.
Dubov shoots, fails, Colon goes behind, 10-0 tech and into the semis. Awesome job by the replacement for Garrett.

Gwiz up on Mat A vs Deng, who beat Dhesi to get here. Except I'm looking at a test pattern.
Per twitter, Gwiz is up 2-0 at the break. I have feeds for mats B, C, and D working, but no A, the only mat where wrestling is actually occurring.

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

China does nothing for 5 mins, Gwiz put on the clock for no reason, China gets a questionable? 4 to win. He'll be done for the tourney.

Edit: Maybe not done, China has a winnable match. Thought Akgul was China's next match.

Late to the party, is the track feed working ok? Willing to pony up the money for the semis and finals if the video is working.

It's been better but go the VPN route. I'm still salty I wasn't able to watch the early matches with clarity.

Burroughs against Sidakov (RUS), on B.
JB not looking crisp on his shots.
JB on clock and converts a low shot, up 2-0 now.
Sidavkov wins a scramble tied 2-2.
Break.
JB gets to an ankle but can only get 1 pushout from it, up 3-2.
Sidavkov shoots, JB stuffs it, 1:47 left.
Sidavkov nice TD, :21 left, JB down 4-3.
JB gets 2 right back, :05 seconds remaining, up 5-4.
Sidavkov pushes out with almost no time left, should be up 5-5 on criteria. Challenge. Challenge lost, Sidavkov moves on, 6-5.

Burroughs extremely passive whole match again, takes the lead with 10 seconds left again... then gives up a push out to lose. Very, very uncharacteristic performances by JB. Terrible.

Tough way to end what should have been 4 for 4 in the semis.

Yep, he is a step slower. Go back a few years and no way he lets that guy in on his leg from a restart with 10 seconds left. Hopefully he can still add to his legacy with a Bronze.

Time for some of the youngsters (Martinez, Joseph) to step up.

Z is gonna be a monster, but I think his path will be similar to DT and Dake, having to wait a few years before getting his time to shine

Was thinking similar, today's biggest winners are Dake and Dieringer.

That said, write off Burroughs at one's own peril.
Yeah, a year from now JB will still be able to win any one match. But if Chamizo wins his semi, he won't have the benefit of sitting in the final waiting on Dake. And you could tell he wasn't going to win today even before he lost. Shots weren't crisp, he was a half beat behind everything.

Colon v Bonne (Cuba)
Colon on clock, tried to go upper body but neither guy scored on it. 1-0 Bonne on the passivity point.
Colon again with double unders, which worked pretty well against Dubov but not here, as Bonne gets 4.
Cuba looking for two more on the turn and they get it, 7-0 on the break.
US Challenge though. Challenge succeeds (wait, what? US wins a challenge?), back to 5-0.
Second period.
Colon has his hands full here, looks to break Bonne down from a sort of front headlock position, but nothing both times. 1;37 left.
Bonne with a clean feet to back TD to go up 9-0.
Colon somehow reverses to stave off the tech. 9-1, :30 left.
9-3 with :21 left. Colon needs a miracle, Bonne backing up, gives up a pushout, 9-4. Time runs out on Colon.

Live by the big move, die by the big move. Still, Colon was a fill-in and can still medal.
