PSU - Kentucky Citrus Bowl Official Game Thread

Every tactical decision Franklin made today was WRONG. He completely blew this game, from taking the opening kickoff to trying a fake punt all the way through to sucking the momentum away from his team by going for the FG (in other words, from beginning to end), he BLEW it.

Yep

For all you whiners who quit on this team, I hope not to see you here next year.

You know what you can suck a dick. There is a middle ground between being a blind robot fan and someone who “quits on this team.” Our expectations for a guy who makes millions of dollars to coach our team is that he be professional and prepared all of the time. Making speeches about being elite is cheerleading. Show up and coach and earn your money or hire people who can.

Kentucky is a second rate program and it shows. High water mark for their program.

game over. PSU tried a little trickery, but the flip back to Hamler after the catch was fumbled by KJ, and Kentucky recovered.

Oh well

Kicking the FG seemed to kill whatever momentum PSU had.

So franklin was OK going for a fake punt in a scoreless first quarter but he won't go for a reasonable 4th down with the game on the line late in the fourth? Sometimes I think we're using a Magic 8 ball to make decisions.
100% agree. There is zero logic or consistency to how they call games.

In the season's biggest moments (4th and 5 against Ohio State, 4th and 6 against Kentucky), the Penn State coaching staff essentially took the ball out of McSorley's hands. That is unforgivable, especially when looking at the Ohio State game as McSorley's best performance ever. And he was damn good in the fourth quarter today, too. Absurd decision to kick that field goal.

Gotta love the effort, but the decision for the FG was definitely the wrong one.
Yeah, I love the fourth quarter effort. If there had been ANY effort in the other three quarters, we win this game easily. Which is embarrassing, or at least should be.

The bottom line is the team has talent but is undisciplined and significantly lacking in fundamentals. The coaching staff does not correct errors quickly and often makes very questionable decisions. They are a lot like the Steelers in that regard.

Well, another game we gave way - this time courtesy of special teams. Kids finally woke up but it was too late. Congrats to Kentucky (their BS injury antics notwithstanding) - they played like this was the biggest game in the history of their program. If not for our ineptitude, this is an easy win for us. Sadly becoming a hallmark of our program.

When we're talking about great comeback tries against Kentucky, we have problems. Good effort at the end, but all of this calling us whiners is such BS.
