Bad fit, IMO. Too run-and-gun for the Sixers.
Brown should have been fired two years ago, you could tell the team tuned him out, So many bad decision in the past 3 years. Trading for Harris and not keeping Shamet, Not drafting Micheal Porter Jr instead trade Bridges for Smith who is a Bust. Giving Harris 180 million and Horford 109 million. The only thing they did right was trade for Butler but then let him walk.
Sixers now talking with Doc Rivers about their coaching need. Thoughts?
It's like he comes up with great game plans but then other coaches figure him out after a few games and counter his plan. Then for whatever reason he can't counter back unless he has a huge talent advantage (Garnett/Pierce/Allen).Never understood the love affair people have with Doc Rivers as a coach. 13 teams have lost 3-1 leads in the playoffs. He’s been the coach of 3 of those teams. No thanks...
Brett Brown’s playoff record while with the Sixers: .462
Doc Rivers playoff record while with the Clippers: .432 while never making it past the second round.
Maybe there wasn’t another choice and maybe it doesn’t matter. It’s a different voice which I’m sure will translate to some wins in the regular season but in Boston and LA now when Doc has left there have been locker room issues.
He was gifted 3 hall of famers in Boston and wins a championship 12 years ago. He’s still living off that.
The bigger issue I have, it seems like the Sixers management had no real plan when it came to coaching. They were just grabbing names. I hate to use Boston as an example but they clearly did some research and found Steven’s. The Heat’s Pat Riley hand picked Spolstra and stuck with him. The Sixers plan was to get whatever coach was fired from another team this year rather than identify a young innovative mind. I don’t know who that could be but that’s not my job. Getting a fired retread who has shown the inability to make changes and chokes in the playoffs is just lazy in my opinion.
Still waiting on those front office changes they spoke about as well.
This team is a mess.
Meh. The cost would be astronomical, assuming Houston would even entertain it. Think a package centered on Embiid.
