If Rivera does not wrestle Sunday against Maryland they almost have to give him the 14 seed.

I guess this is possible, but it seems unlikely when looking at the rest of the B10 133s.

He has yet to wrestle in a B10 dual. 7-2 overall with non-conference losses to Gross and Piotrowski (both at Midlands).

There are 8 guys with at least a .500 conference record, so Rivera could be seeded anywhere from 9th to 14th. The other sub.-500 B10 guys:
- Dryden: 1-2 B10 duals, 1-3 B10 overall, 4-4 vs. D1 (DeSanto and Lovett left)
- Pepple: 3-6, 5-6, 15-13
- Decatur: 2-6, 3-6, 8-7 (with RBY tonight)
- Ford-Melton: 2-6, 3-8, 9-11
- Sandoval: 1-7, 1-8, 9-13
("B10 overall" adds tourneys -- which includes backups and redshirts.)

To the extent that non-conference matches are used: Rivera has beaten 3 returning NQs (Gonser, Sykora, Hayes). And VT's Gerardi will likely earn an ACC auto-qualifier spot.

Hard to imagine Rivera being seeded below Ford-Melton and Sandoval ... at least.

Either way, am guessing Rivera is either completely out or skipping the rest of this NCAA season to prep for the Olympics.

SIde note when looking up the B10 133 records: Piotrowski could well get the 2 seed over RBY.

Piotrowski is 8-0 in conference duals, with a win over Alvarez (by fall). 13-1 B10 overall, 20-2 vs. D1. He will likely win his last 2 matches (Purdue and Fresno).

RBY is 6-1 in conference with wins over DeSanto and Alvarez; 7-1 and 15-1.

Big upset in the NC State-VT match: Bullard beat McFadden 2-1 at 165.

Also (not an upset) Bolen 3-1 over Hidlay at 184 .

Did you happen to see the mid-dual interview with the Bullard bros.? The heavier one reminded me a lot of Nolf.

I missed it. Thanks for the heads up, will look for it if I get the chance.

You mean in appearance or demeanor or interview style or something else? Because neither of them resembles Jason on the mat.

It would make sense for Rivera to skip the rest of the season and try to qualify for Olympics at the Pan Am qualifier rather than the last chance one but if he does that he "might" risk a chance for a medical redshirt, if he wanted one.

No risk to a medical hardship. Those are not NCAA events.

Yeah, just demeanor, way of speaking, and mannerisms..A Nolfish twinkle in his eye, too (or so I think). Made me smile, at least.
