Penn State has qualified all 10 wrestlers for the NCAA Championships twice since Cael has arrived in Happy Valley, 2013 and 2014. Previous to arriving, he also placed all 10 in three consecutive years at Iowa State (2007-2009).

The PSU-only history is;
2010: 6 Qualifiers (all but 133, 141, 174, 197)
2011: 8 Qualifiers (all but 165, 197)
2012: 9 Qualifiers (all but 141)
2013: 10 Qualifiers
2014: 10 Qualifiers
2015: 7 Qualifiers (all but 141, 157, 165)
2016: 9 Qualifiers (all but 285)
2017: 9 Qualifiers (all but 133)
2018: 9 Qualifiers (all but 125)
2019: 9 Qualifiers (all but 125)
2020: 7 Qualifiers (all but 125, 157, 285)
2021: ?? Qualifiers

I like our chances this year, but the guys must go out and earn it. They'll be ready.

They also seem to win the crown when they qualify 8+ wrestlers. Only in 2010, 2015, and 2020 did that not happen.

Quantity and quality are both factors, and it changes each year as a key to winning depending on the landscape.

In 2011, for example, we won by 14 points but only had 5 All-Americans. All 5 finished top-3. Quality was more important.

2014 was a different story, as we only won by 5.5 points, and had 7 All-Americans (2-1st, 1-3rd, 2-5th, and 2-7th). Only two finalists, but a great supporting cast, for a bit of quality, but quantity (7 AA's) won the day. A team that has both is tough to beat.

Small point, but didn't the Jersey kid qualify in 2017, then default out of the tourney.

Yes, he did. Should have included him, but somehow I erased him from my 2017 records I have of the tournament. At-large bid, then two-and-out, both MFF, at the NCAA Championships as the 3-seed.

Agree. I think the hardest one to call is 125, but I still like his chances against the middle of the pack.
