Said the ncaa was wrong and there will be an appeal. Boeheim is not a cheater and should not be fired because he's a 'good guy' and raises a lot of money for cancer. Seriously......

But wait- it gets better. He said Boeheim's biggest failure was "trusting others in the program". Yes, the same Vitale that jumped on Paterno for trusting CSS to handle things appropriately now suddenly gives Boeheim a complete pass. Said Boehein didn't know boosters were paying players. Boeheim didn't change the players grades himself. That while a coach is responsible for his program- absolutely none of this was Boeheim's fault. Just unreal.

Then as they go to commercial they talk about a player accused of sexual assault and Vitale says they need to 'wait for the legal process to play out'. The hypocrisy is neck deep surrounding Vitale tonight.

Dickie's contribution to this world has been fairly minimal,

and is unlikely to be added to any further. He's a fossil.

He's another one of those remarkable ESPN-created figures, who was a failure as a coach but was able to BS better than the average coaching failure, much like Lee Corso. For them, ESPN was the greatest mulligan ever created. In failure, they succeeded beyond their wildest dreams.

He got in at ESPN at the perfect time, when nobody cared about it or knew much about it. He had basically free reign to get his shtick perfected and as ESPN took off, he took off. Same with Berman.

He's no Joe Paterno.

For some reason, I thought Vitale had defended Paterno. Until I searched his tweets, that is.

If the same thing happened at Duke, North Carolina or Syracuse he would have tweeted the complete opposite. Coach K, Boeheim and Dean Smith could do no wrong in his eyes.

Very true. However, this thread was from Vitale's comments back in March of this year. Not sure why It got resurrected tonight. Did Vitale or Boeheim say something today?

Ha, I didn't even notice until you pointed it out.

Vtale along with all the 'Cuse grads working at the network will always and completely cover for the dirt bag Boeheim. He is soooooooo much what is wrong with college Basketball, just can't believe Coach K had him as an assistant on the national team.

Boeheim is a coach, a very good basketball coach, one of the best in the college game. But has anyone ever accused Boeheim of being an educator? Not that I recall. And I don't believe anyone would credit Boeheim with possessing the values of an educator. His program has generated too much smoke over the years for there never to have actually been a fire.

JB has been dirty for decades. The player/car scandal was going strong in the 1980s. Saw it first hand.

He used to send his recruits to a SAT testing warehouse. They suddenly were 44% smarter after taking a test they had not passed 1 - 3 times before.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

HINT: Somebody else took the test under their name folks!!!

Boeheim is legendary for not caring if his players go to class or graduate. He pulls enough strings to ward off critics. He knows ESPN reporters won't look further.
