I was at the matches this weekend. An upside to starting IU at 187 was Bo being free at half time. He came out and was surrounded by kids. He patiently gave everyone who asked an autograph and/or posed with the kid for a picture. He seemed to be really enjoying himself.

For both matches I sat near the parents of one of the wrestlers. They are very knowledgeable and friendly. Super people. They had nothing but good things to say about the program. They said it is a family atmosphere and their son loves it. Even though he is a walk-on, he is treated well by the coaches and wrestlers.

They made me feel slightly better about not getting NCAA tickets. Neither did they.

Between meeting the parents (so to speak), Bo interacting with the kids, and being able to share the experience with a cousin who is also a Penn State alum, it has been a pretty good winter weekend. As a bonus, my cousin, a retired Louisville dean, treated me to Louisville's mauling of Pitt's basketball team.
