I am a “newbie” at scoring in tournaments. Could someone please explain how round two gave us only 10 points (16 to 26) when seven wrestlers won?

Tourney scoring is different from dual meets if that is confusing.

Early rounds you get 1 point for wins in championship bracket, 0.5 for wins in consis. Plus bonus points (1 for major decision, 1.5 for tech fall, 2 for pin).

Today the matches are worth more points because of placement points. Finishing Top 8 earns team placement points. If anyone makes semis they are guaranteed 6th place which is worth 6 placement points which are added in immediately. Plus 1 point for the win and any bonus points.

Win tonight and are guaranteed no worse than 2nd… 2nd is worth 6 more points than 6th so tonight’s math for the semis is the same math as above. Win is 6 + 1 plus bonus.

1 pt for win, + bonus (1 for major, 1.5 tech fall, 2 pin).

0.5 pts per win in consolations. Bonus remains same.

The confusing part is that placement points are awarded when a placement has been clinched, not when determined. Meaning: winning the quarters clinches no worse than 6th place, so 6th place points are awarded now.

It's not 2 pts per win. It's 1 pt per win + bonus pts.

Also fewer bonus points earned in Round 2.
