Oklahoma State is going to have a solid lineup. Several returning AAs and they picked up Geer and Shomers via transfer in the off season. They don't have the top end to compete with Penn State but they should have a very strong dual team and could be competing for as high as 2nd/3rd at NCAAs.

125: Fix
133: Picc
141: Brock
149: Lewallen
157: Shomers
165: Smith or Rogers
174: Smith
184: Geer
197: Weigel
285: White

Lots of talent indeed, and like all great programs, bench strength is solid. OSU may have AA-caliber kids not wrestling come March. Given all possible iterations, here's the possibilities...

125: Piccinnini or Fix (I'll go Picc, it's better for the team, imo)
133: Piccinnini or Fix (I'll go Fix, see above)
141: Brock
149: Lewallen or Gfeller or Martinez (One will sit, one goes 157, I'm thinking Boo here)
157: Martinez (If healthy, my guess for who goes 157)
165: Rogers or JoJo Smith (I'll go Rogers, with Smith going 174)
174: JoJo Smith or Jacobe Smith (JoJo's presence moves Jacobe to 184)
184: Jacobe Smith or Geer (Tough call, one will sit as neither have RS left)
197: Weigel
285: White

Then there's Shomers, not mentioned.

Enough firepower to make plenty of noise.

Agreed. OkSt has 8 previous AAs on their roster plus White, Geer, Shomers, Fix, Gfeller. There will be some interesting battles for starting spots. Depending on how their line-up shakes out, it would not be shocking to see everyone ranked in the top 10 at some point.

125: Fix
133: Picc (4th at 125 in 2017)
141: Brock (5th at 133 in 2017 and 2018)
149: Lewallen (8th at 149 in 2018)
157: Shomers (unseeded qualifier, 0-2 at 157 in 2018)
Martinez (8th at 149 in 2016)
165: Jo. Smith (5th and 4th at 157 in 2017 and 2018)
Rogers (8th and 5th at 165 in 2017 and 2018)
174: Ja. Smith (8th at 174 in 2018)
184: Geer (14th seed, 2-2 at 184 in 2017)
197: Weigel (6th at 197 in 2017)
285: White (9th seed, lost in blood round, 2-2 at 285 in 2018)

Moore already left Okie st for MN
Moran is leaving and looking hard at Wisconsin and VA Tech

They had such a horrible tournament last year I feel some are sleeping on this team. IMO they the number 2 dual team and number 3 tourney team.

I think Iowa will take number 2 in tourney this year. But I’ll take OSU in the dual between the 2 if they go this year

Kinda surprising Kerkvliet is looking elsewhere when you look at their lineup. At least until you look at ours ;-)

I believe Geo is done. Blaylock is back from injury and has been cleared.[/QUOTE]

You forgot to tell us that Picc is going 125 and Fix 133. :D

I know it's early but I'm picking Fix to be the champ at 133. He might even meet RBY in the finals, although Gross and Micic may have something to say about that. Wild card is Tariq Wilson, who may just beat all of them. What Wilson did to Pletcher in the 3rd place match was a bit WOW.

The prodigal son, that kid at Rutgers, will make 25/33 interesting pending what weight he goes.

Geo has serious shoulder issues and has hung up the shoes. I think Fix goes 125 and Picc at 133 based on freestyle weights last time both wrestled. Fix has his eyes on Olympic gold next go around and will need to stay small to make that happen with the new weigh in rules.

Not telling you anything you do not already know, but whoever wrestles a strong 3 days is going to claim that 2nd place trophy. Okie State wrestled a terrible tournament last season, I can't imagine Smith doesn't make some adjustments.
I have to admit the thought of a strong tournament by our 2 Big10 brethren and Okie State with one of the OSUs placing second causes me to laugh out loud as I write it.

Until either some graduations happen, or he simply beats out one of two of UNI's AA's (not likely, as one of them has beaten him badly twice), Moore doesn't really have a spot in the UNI lineup until probably his senior year.

The Cowboys and the former Engineers were the two biggest disappointments of the 2018 NCAA tournament in my mind. They both sort of fell off the edge. Shockingly bad performances by those two teams.

Amazing the falloff Heil had last year, that certainly didn't help.

After his scuffle performance, hard to imagine Gfeller not starting. Lot of talent in the lower 4 weights.

You and I discussed the Engineers a bit last year. The NCAA performance was poor, and while for you it was shocking for me more of the expected.
You just can't wrestle every match with a game plan to win by a point, and Lehigh seemingly does wrestle with a style designed to keep it close with a shot at the end. I grew up wanting to attend Lehigh, and I have always rooted for them. They spend so much time in reverse I can't stand to watch most Lehigh kids wrestle anymore.

I certainly get having Fix go to his preferred weight. But will Picc be a smallish 133? Saw on the 34 & Counting board that he's getting bigger.

Keeping my fingers crossed for Lee v Fix

Who are the Engineers?

Just in case anybody ask with any seriousness, Lehigh's former sports nickname was Engineers. It was changed to Mountain Hawks in the 1990s.
Apparently because people were confusing them with the railroads in the area.

Thanks. I was completely mystified as to whom the Engineers were. Of course, I immediately assumed that it was Ohio State.

I'll tamper expectations down a bit, but RBY is not making the finals at 133 this year. Super talented, high expectation guy, but the NCAA finals will not happen as a true Freshman. Look at all the guys coming back and to reasonably say that is a tough.

Nico and Marky Mark says all things through talent, hard work and good fortune are possible.

Just saying.

Fix wants to eat more often than once a week. I have him penciled in @ 133.....

...... then again, this is John Smith’s program.

The change was academics-based. Lehigh didn't want to be pigeon-holed as an engineering school and wanted to emphasize other aspects/majors in its curriculum. So they changed the sports teams' mascot/name. It's always seemed like confused thinking to me.

Kinda like how Arcadia no longer wanted to be associated with Gen. Beaver?

I do believe Lehigh was founded by railroad baron Asa Packer, so there's that.

From wiki. Originally founded as a technical school for engineering by Packer.

Lehigh University
Asa Packer was rather laconic and reticent, when word spread that Packer was to found a university, or aid one, there were various speculations.[5] The final spot chosen, on South Mountain in Bethlehem, could not have been much happier: as it nestled in with a preexisting religious community, the Moravians, and additionally was the future home of benefactor, and collaborator, Bethlehem Steel Co. So then, in 1865, he gave $500,000 and 60 acres (243,000 m²), later increased to 115 acres (465,000 m²) in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, as a technical school for the engineering professions, designed to help the growth and development of the Lehigh Valley. Lehigh University was chartered, and instruction began, in 1866.[2] The first main building, Packer Hall (now the University Center) was completed in 1869, and of stone, as Packer himself stipulated.[6] With Packer's generosity, Lehigh was able to offer education tuition free for 20 years, 1871–1891, before the economic troubles of the 1890s forced the University to reverse this policy.

Hey! 1992 BS Comp Sci: Beaver College grad here.
(1985 PSU AS Comp Sci)
So watch what you say about Beavers....

I thought it changed from Beaver College to Arcadia when it became co-ed. ;) I found out part of the reason for the name change was that its website was getting blocked by filtering systems (presumably get misidentified as a porn site). The first one was a bad joke. The second is actually true.
