Nolf vs Oliver? Something happening June 28th

Pat Downey and Joe Rau are going to do a period FS and a period greco. J

Downey wins coin toss and chooses greco to start. Rau from par terre takes Downey over. 7-0 Rau. 9-0. No techs in this match. Break.

FS now. Upper body, Downey gets two from an ankle pick, 9-2. PD similar move, 9-4, 1:05 left. That's all, Rau 9-4.

Downey is up against Rau now. A hybrid Greco-freestyle match.

Rau scored big in the Greco portion and then hung on in freestyle. Downey was unimpressive

Downey better hope he gets his cardio up bc he will not last 2 minutes with DT at this point.

Lugo v Pletcher now. I'd forgotten Pletcher is at Pitt RTC.
  • Both guys clearly up a few weights. Pletcher looks to go big but they call it a slip, no score.
  • Lugo gets behind, near edge. Pletcher quad pods and it's only 1. 1-0 Lugo.
  • Lugo with a great shot, Pletcher rubber knees, but Lugo shoves him out, 2-0.
  • Break. Dan Dennis and Sam Brooks in Lugo's corner; Keith Gavin in Pletcher's corner.
  • Pletcher with a deep single but Lugo gets out, then another pushout by Lugo. 3-0.
  • Lugo with a go behind, 5-0.
  • Pletcher can't get anything going and time will run out. 5-0 Lugo.

The mat is slippery. Wipe it down! Lugo for 1 on the pushout

Ends 5-0. Pletcher was close to a TD but Lugo was a wall. Hope they dry that mat for Nolf

Nolf v JO
Nolf coming out to AC/DC. Blue NLWC singlet. JO in red repping Sunkist.
  • Both guys cautious, keeping distance. Warning.
  • Cael and Cody there with Jason.
  • Another warning. Nolf gets a clock point I think.
  • Two shots by Nolf but nothing. First period over. 1-0 Nolf.
  • Break
  • Nolf looking more active, JO doing nothing. Another warning. JO with a shot clock point. 1-1.
  • Neither guy has come close to getting legs. 1:00 left.
  • Nolf finally in on a leg. JO has his neck. Interesting position here, Nolf gets two. But he also gets a shot clock point, and was up 2-1, so it ends 4-1.
  • Nolf's eye is bleeding. Disappointed it ended without more points, says he asked for a rematch.

Nolf wins in a low scoring chess match. Gets two points on passivity points. They might have given him a TD at the end as well. Not sure. Oliver 1 point on passivity. Nolf took all the shots but couldn't break through the defense.

Oliver almost always gets super conservative in the money matches. He goes into defensive mode. Nolf said he wants a rematch and thinks they should put up more points

4-1 Nolf. Oliver did nada. Nolf was shooting quite a bit, but JO was hands out, backing away.

JO literally did nothing but defend. He didn't take one shot. It only got a little bit interesting the last 30 seconds

It was entertaining but the score keeping and time clock could have been better. To screw up the red / blue on the main event was just bad. Still I thought it was worth it, some very good matches and just to support Jason.

Oliver does have a hell of a defense to fight through. Jason needed a cut man in his corner.

Just going to point out that Flo's twitter account was basically silent this entire event. Flo's all about what's best for the sport so long as they're getting theirs.

At least Andrew Spey sent some tweets (CP tweeted DT’s tweet only). Nothing from the others.

Willie must love at least being out from under that straitjacket (though he’s still under the lame restrictions caused by Flo’s sad lawsuit). @smalls103

I would love to see the inter office email/chat giving the directive to not mention it. You know that it was company policy - just wonder who’s order
Peeking at the personal accounts, only Bader and Spey had anything to say at all, though little. Nothing from Nomad, Pyles, Bratke, Askren.

That's happened before...
