Nolf vs Oliver? Something happening June 28th

From the photos it looks like they're going to hold it on the roof of a parking garage in the Montgomery Park area. Hats off to the hustler who pulled this together.

It looks like the weather is cooperating for the event. Sunny/partly cloudy, low 70's in Chicago for start time. Don't know if they had a backup plan if rain was forecast.

I suppose the wet and slick mat issue that plagued BTS in NYC (outside, along the river) a few years back shouldn't arise.

Nice duck by McKee against Nick Dardanes, then a gut to go up 4-0 at the break. Dardanes with a double that puts McKee on his ass, then out of bounds, 4-2. McKee. Dardanes with time running out pushes and McKee goes behind, 6-2 final.

Announcer mentioned that ties would be going to overtime, no criteria.

The weird, seemingly-petty difference between the MN senior FS & GR programs is comical to me at this point lol.

Braunagel (Illinois, US jr greco team) vs Brett Pfarr. Not much through one until Braunagel gets a leg, changes direction to get the two. Had a trapped arm but couldn't turn. Break. 3-0.

Nice D by Braunagel against a single by Pfarr, nearly was able to convert the chest wrap. Pfarr gets to a leg again and converts near the edge to make it 3-2. Braunagel now in on a leg. Nice scramble to a stalemate. Pfarr catches an ankle and is able to convert. Looking lace but no. Pfarr up 4-3, :35 remaining. Braunagel with a clutch double and converts as the clock runs out. 5-4 Braunagel. Nice win.

Not going to do pbp for the grade school kids but Aaron Stewart is easily handling Ruzik so far, up 6-0. Techs 10-0.

I’m following your PBP’s. Thank you. At about what time do you expect Jason to wrestle?

No idea. But here's the match order. Jason up in six. No commercials and short interviews after. Should go faster than your typical freestyle tournament.

Danny Braunagel (Zac's lighter twin) vs Nazar Kulchytskyy. Scramble with Braunagel on the defensive, ref gave Braunagel the two exposure on a roll through. But Kulchytskyy had the better position and got two for the takedown and six more on guts. Kulchytskyy 8-2, blood time. Refs are reviewing the sequence. On review, they switch the two to Nazar and it's a 10-0 tech.

Oh wow, Nazar leaving his shoes on the mat. Kisses the mat. Thanks Minnesota TC, Titan Mercury. "I feel like it's time to give back to community," coaching kids. Class act.

Nazar looked like he could still beat a lot of guys in any bracket he found himself in. He has beast strength and veteran slickness. Could've wrestled many more years.

Dylan Ness vs Nestor Taffur. Taffur is a volunteer assistant at Columbia, nice guy, and is from Colombia.
  • Ness gets to legs and pushes out to go up 1-0.
  • Nice single from Taffur, gets two, plus a gut. Ness tries to funk but it doesn't work. 4-1 Taffur.
  • Ness goes high-c but Taffur stuffs it, no score. Break. 4-1.
  • Ness gets to a single, maybe converts, then goes big near edge. Refs gave him 2 for TD and 5 but it's being reviewed. If it stands, it's 8-4 Ness. On review, it's 6-4, they took back the TD.
  • Taffur in on leg but Ness goes backdoor and makes it his own. 8-4, :30 left.
  • Ness finishes a single at edge, making it 10-4.
  • Final, 10-4.
In interview, Ness says mat was slippery but better with mat now in shadow. Ness looks like the only guy so far who cut to make weight, btw.

People forget how well Dylan used to be able to lift anyone. Silly choice to come up to your feet there, Taffur.

Zane Richards vs Zach Sanders. You've probably noticed that this is basically an Illinois RTC vs Minnesota RTC freestyle dual with Nolf JO as headliner.

Richards with a four-pointer, Sanders comes back with a TD. Richards gets a reverse followed by two more. Sanders with a TD. 7-4 Richards. Wide open. Break.

Sanders gets two more off a scramble. Richards with a push out. Odd position, both guys looking throw, Sanders gets the two though. It's 9-9. Richards with a go-behind. 11-9. Sanders with his own go-behind, 11-11. Time running down. Sanders was looking duck but Richards pancaked it. That's it, 13-11. Great match.

Richards is a career 125 but looks 149 right now. Unrecognizable.

Good high scoring match between Sanders and Richards. Man, the mat is getting slippery. Not a good sign for the upcoming bouts. Wipe it down!
