197 Brucki 4.182
141 McKenna 4.143
141 N. Lee 4.000
125 Bresser 4.000

He has more than 10 bouts. Last week he was at exactly 4.000 and he beat Amine by decision (3) so I assume that dropped him slightly below 4.
I appreciate the answer. I don't understand the reasoning, but appreciate the answer.

How many bouts does Mark Hall have and if he has ten, how can he not be in there?

I appreciate the answer. I don't understand the reasoning, but appreciate the answer.

Mark Hall has 19 Bouts.
-- 10 Decisions x 3 Pts/Dec = 30 points
-- 3 Majors x 4 Pts/Major = 12 points
-- 3 Techs x 5 Pts/Tech = 15 points
-- 3 Falls x 6 Pts/Fall = 18 points

75 total points/19 bouts = 3.947

Ah, very understandable as always, Roar. Thank you!

Still hard to understand how last years NCAA champ with no losses this year and beating Valencia (4500 points on the list) this year could not be on the list.

Some more stats that kind of fit this topic.

Least amount of offensive points given up (# of matches in paranthesis):
Rasheed - 0 (15)
Nickal - 2 (18)
Hall - 8 (19)
Cassar - 8 (18)
Joseph - 8 (17)
Berge - 9 (16) <includes a riding time point>
Nolf - 14 (19)
Is that home brew or is that number available more broadly?

Perhaps it is because 3.947 < 4.000 ……….:)
Heh, funny

We can flesh out y2jriden’s answer to recite underlying facts to make it more clear. Edits in bold.

“... Last week Hall was averaging exactly 4.000 team points scored per match, and afterward he beat Amine by decision (to score only 3 team points in that match), so I assume that the Amine match dropped Hall’s new average to slightly below 4 team points scored per match, and so Hall does not anymore appear on the leader list which is restricted to wrestlers who average at least 4 team points per match.”

The following analogy may help. If you’ve been averaging exactly 90 points on each math quiz, and then you score less than 90 on the latest math quiz, then that less-than-90 score will bring down your new average to below 90. And if the list of A-students is only for students who average at least 90, then you will no longer appear on the list.

I hope that is intuitive. :)

But....I don't understand how I scored 96 on a test and Jill only scored 94 on the same test ….but she appears on the Honor Roll and I don't. That doesn't make any sense. But thank you for your explanation.....which I don't understand. ...Understand? Tee Hee

I think it’s because you gave Jill the “in your face” taunt afterward and tried to break her arm and were penalized with negative infinity points. ;)

this thread is amazing , up until today I had assumed most of the posters were graduates of an accredited institution but now second guessing that. We really need Ban to return to this board so that intellectually I have an equal
It could just be a simple misunderstanding. Y2jridden’s answer was very economical with words and assumed the reader had paid attention and remembered the meaning of the list. In reality, when people read a rankings list, they might be reading quickly and might not pay attention to whether the metric being used is subjective or a custom weird metric or whatever. Also, not everyone might be a native English speaker, and we have older members on this list. So, we should be kind. :)
[edit: that said, busting each others’ balls when we goof is fun, too. :)]

Roar, for Lords sakes your revised list has Suriano last! That runs against family policy. Anyway you can make the cutoff at 3.50?

I checked with ban. he said you are mistaken. You are to take your transcripts and your resume and meet him in the parking lot at midnight.

Roar, I can't believe you would rank Hall behind Valencia here, Hall beat him! Seriously, how did you even come up with this list!?!

(Obviously j/k)

Is that home brew or is that number available more broadly?

Ok, here's the data. There's a sheet for each of the starting wrestlers, Keystone, Scuffle and totals per wrestler.

One thing that I did non-conventionally was assign points to individual pins (18 for a 1st period pin, 12 for a 2nd period pin, 6 for a 3rd period pin). I wanted to see if I could normalize data to compare matches that ended with pins to matches that didn't. It only comes into play in the total points column and can be ignored if it seems too hokey.

And I still need to take the time to make it look better and fix the column headers so that they don't run together...

Okay, this is just weird. Since Ban's ban, he has shown up on the RU board, but since that board is less active, his participation has dropped off. Then, out of the blue today, he posts this in a reply to me in a thread about Ashnault and Wrestlestat...

"Something that you're certainly familiar with, eh, such as being obsessed with me to the pernt to where you incessantly claim that I, unilaterally, told someone that I was more intelligent than he was.

If you need to proper context to what ACTUALLY happened, give me a holler. Better yet, tell me what happened. You're answer will prove how wrong and uninformed all of you are/were in regard towho was calling whom stupid."

So, the guy is peeking through the fence over here, if anyone wants to say hi.

I ran his post through the "Translation" app and it said... "WTF" :)

In Re-Reading it...…….I think he made some really good pernts.
