Mat Town Open II

It should be Kasak even if Evans outperforms him? That seems a little strange to me.
Yeah the reason why I think you may be correct Pat, is that if Kasak was the presumed guy at 149 wouldn't he be wrestling with the rest of the starters vs Maryland, especially vs. a kid ranked #14 in the country instead of in a tourney with kids not at that level.

He needed the matches. He only had 3 at the weight coming into today

Anyone know if they use matches against teammate for RPI match count (15) or coaches rank (8 matches)?
They used to and probably will. This was never in question until Dresser pulled that stunt during Covid.

Probably will since the match is in a legitimate Open with many other teams competing.

Yeah. That’s the reason I ask. I thought they banned counting teammate matches after Dresser pulled that. But I truly don’t know.

IMO I wouldn’t count teammate matches.

Is there rules on this posted somewhere?

Matches against teammates don't count

**edit**
I just read the selection criteria and it DOES NOT say anything about matches against teammates.

maybe It counts on his NCAA official record, just not for RPI.
Current RPI rule:
Must have 15-Division I Matches at the designated weight class on the NCAA Division I Starters page to have a calculated RPI.

Forfeits and medical forfeits are excluded from the 15-match count. Injury defaults do count towards the
15-match minimum.

RPI is calculated by the following formula: 25% RPI winning percentage, 50% opponents RPI winning
percentage and 25% opponent's opponent RPI winning percentage. The opponent's winning percentage and opponent's opponent winning percentage is also taken from
division I matches at the contested weight class.

Only matches against Division I opponents at the
designated weight class count towards the RPI.

Sorry I had to edit a couple times because copy and paste wasn't right with my phone.

So........Kasak vs. Evans 1 and Kasak vs. Bartlett don't count towards anything since the matches were at 141lbs.

Correct. Also I edited my post with criteria because copy and paste didn't get everything correct the first 2 posts so I had to correct it if you want to read them again.
