The rules said Liberty had to get a spot but it seems they should have played #11 Mississippi, not #8 Oregon.

And why the Fiesta Bowl? Isn't that more prestigious than Cotton or Peach?

Is that match up definite? I’m not seeing it anywhere.

Georgia/FSU was locked in
So then really anything could have happened. It makes sense to have Oregon, Ohio State and Penn State in different bowls as they'll travel. Kept Oregon close to home. Put Penn State in a bowl they've never been in before. Big Ten-SEC matchups as they're the best conferences.

The non playoff ny6 bowls are completely arbitrary now outside of the protected conference affiliation slots.

Feel bad for Oregon. They had a good season and get rewarded with playing Liberty.

Love it! Could have easily been us. Only thing better would have been Ohio State or Florida State playing them

It was the Fiesta’s turn to take the hit. Both the Cotton and Peach had been stuck more recently with the token G5 rep.
