Know Your Penn State Wrestlers (KYPSW) 2018-19

YOOOOO!!!!!

For purposes of our contest, these 17 wrestlers will be scored. In years past, the POTENTIAL scorers were named, or we only had 15 attend attached. I can't find that info anywhere, so we'll score all of them. Teske will not count.

pa, I’m heading out of town, and can’t look it up right now...your call on who’s included, just thought, in the past, we had every wrestler. Lee last year, Hall the year before are examples. Not saying change anything, just offrrring a historical perspective. And if you need help scoring, I can help.
 
As almost :))) always, Roar is correct. We had Lee and Nicholas last year. The list above has been corrected.

Roar, thanks for the help, but the spreadsheet is almost fully operational and automatic at this point. When I post the results, and you compare mine to yours, just let ma know if you see discrepancies.

And, have a good trip, wherever you're going. I've been on two trips to Boalsburg in the last three days myself, with a Mason Manville sighting on a drive around campus.

Thx @pawrestlersintn. Before I embarrass myself, for bonus points you're counting total bonus points not just total bonus point wins, correct? In other words:

2 points for every fall, forfeit, DQ
1.5 points for every tech fall
1 point for every major decision

So, If one believes Nolf will win 5 matches by fall, the pick should be 1, 10 (1st place, 10 total bonus points)?

P.S. Do the brackets come out the day before the Scuffle (i.e., tomorrow)?

The brackets are out and some of our wrestlers (Lee, Berge and Pipher are of most interest) get an extra match. Do these round-of-64 matches count in our competition?

  • 2 points for every fall, forfeit, DQ
  • 1.5 points for every tech fall
  • 1 point for every major decision
What am i missing? @pawrestlersintn?

Remember, you only lose the difference between actual and yours. If you choose 0, and someone else picks 0.5, and the wrestler picks up a major, you lose 1, he loses 0.5.

I asked the same question 2 years ago. There is only one reason for doing this. If you think it's a 50/50 shot that the wrestler will get 1 MD or not then you're limiting your deduction to 0.5 points. Which is almost a wash, because if you pick one or the other your odds are 50/50 that you're going to get 0 or 1points deducted. But if the guy gets a TF and you picked 0, you lose 1.5 vs losing 1 if you picked 0.5. Clear as mud?
