This will be an interesting weekend at 125. With 1 Big Ten loss, Barnett takes on both McKee and Ayala. Davis, also with 1 Big Ten loss, faces Smith.

At 133, Nagao has 2 Big Ten losses, and VanDee just 1.

Hardy has 1 Big Ten loss; who gets #1 if he wins?

Truax and Pinto each have 1 Big Ten loss.

I would expect Truax and Pinto to be the 2/3 seeds at B10s with Salazar being the 1

Nagao and BoBar would both lose their 1 seed with a loss would be my guess.

125 seeds are irrelevant, just beat the guy in front of ya.
Seeeding 125 at NCAA's shouldnt be near as hard, at least we will know conference placings for a guide.

Nagao won’t be the 1 seed.

Current Big 10 records at 133. I included matches in tournaments if they competed against a Big 10 starter.

Ragusin 7-1 (loss to Van Dee) no Big 10 matches left

Bouzakis 6-2 (loss to Shawver and Ragusin) vs Hampton (Michigan St) tomorrow

Van Dee 6-2 (loss to Madrigal and Teske, also beat Teske in the dual so probably more weight to that) vs Nagao on Sunday

Brown 5-2 (loss to Bouzakis and Ragusin) vs Shawver tomorrow

Wells 4-2 (loss to Madrigal and Brown) vs Rivera (Wisconsin) tomorrow.

Madrigal 4-2 (loss to Schriever and Bouzakis) vs Norris (Purdue) tomorrow and Adams (Northwestern) on Sunday.

Shawver 5-3 (loss to Wells and Ragusin twice) vs Brown tomorrow.

Nagao 4-3 (loss to Ragusin, Bouzakis, and Shawver) vs Van Dee on Sunday.

IMO best seed Nagao can get is 4. Ragusin and Bouzakis are locked ahead of him and winner of Brown and Shawver will be ahead of him as well. If Nagao loses he will most likely drop to the 6-8 range.

Agreed. With 3 losses in conference, there's no way he deserves to be the #1. Doesn't pass the eye test, either. The Ragusin pin was fluky and it was in SV, but a pin is a pin, and he was completely outclassed by Bouzakis and lucky not to be majored or even tech'd.

It won't matter but being the 3 seed is the best case scenario for the team race. You get a nice opponent you likely can bonus to start. IMO a bye should get you 1 point bonus at least.

Think he meant Davis

Going into this weekend, I have the following seeds for PSU:

Davis 3 (Ramos, Barnett, Davis, DeAugustino/Ayala
Nagao 6 -- Ragusin (6-1), Van Dee (5-1), Shawver (5-2), Buzakis (5-2), Brown (5-2) , Nagao 3-3
Bartlett 1 (could argue should stay there even with a loss as he is only undefeated, Mendez has 1 loss)
Kasak 6 (Lovett, Gomez, Zargo, Rathjen/Miller)
Haines 1
Mesenbrink 2 (Hamiti also undefeated in Big10)
Starocci 1
Truax 2/3 -- winner between him and Pinto the 2, loser the 3
Brooks 1
Kerkvliet 1

Seems about right. Starocci could get the 2 though if Griffith stays undefeated since he sat out against Michigan.

Definitely a team race. At NCAAs, PSU is a finely tuned V8 firing on all cyclinders. At B1Gs, that V8 is more like a V6. We know it will take about 30 minutes into the tournament for the "sky is falling messages" to start being posted on here.

It's like clockwork and you'd think these people would learn. That said, it is likely that the Big Ten tournament will be much closer than the NCAA tournament will.

It won't be close this year. This team is built differently from past teams which were more top-heavy.

This team will have 10 high placers at B1Gs.

Of course, the first couple of rounds may look close (because that is the nature of tournaments) but by the semis, it will be over.

My guess is that Rutgers is in the lead after the 1rst round.

Agree, this team should run away with the title.

Wonder what the scoring record is for Big Tens?

Second place in 1983 was Minnesota with 77.5 points so 122.5 point differential between first annd second. Iowa scored 195.5 points in 1985 and 185 points in both 1992 and 1995.
But their wrestling style must have been the same. 200 points would equal 10 champions with no bonus points. Pushing and stalling to victory since forever.

A combination of Iowa being the dominant dynasty and the rest of the Big Ten being very weak. The Big Ten is much stronger overall now.

Part of that is Penn State and Nebraska are now in the conference.

With the exception of Iowa, Penn State and Nebraska placed ahead of all of the Big 10 teams in the 1983 NCAA Tournament. In fact, Iowa was the only Big 10 team to finish in the top 10 that year at the NCAA tournament.

Iowa had 9 champs that year in the Big 10 tournament. The other wrestler finished 4th at 167 pounds.

Also no elite Rutgers wrestlers at B10s then

Now that the Big 10 regular season is over, the information needed for seeding is in the books. While we await ROAR's unparalleled annual write-up of seeds, I thought I'd provide my early guesses on where PSU will be seeded at Big 10s along with the top 4 at each weight. This is based primarily on record in conference duals.

125 -- Ramos, Barnett, Ayala, B.Davis -- Ayala, Davis and DeAugustino all have 2 conference dual losses and each went 1-1 in the grouping. Ayala's other loss is to Ramos while Davis and DeAugustino lost to Smith. Ayala didn't wrestle Barnett when he had the chance so you could rearrange the circle. Caleb Smith has 3 losses but is 2-1 (plus a MF over DeAugustino) against this grouping.

133 -- Van Dee, Ragusin, Shawver, Bouzakis -- Nagao 8 but possibly up to 6th. This weight will test the seeding "rules" of the Big 10 of which there are none. Both Van Dee and Ragusin have 1 dual loss. Van Dee beat Ragusin. However, Van Dee also lost to Teske at the Soldier Salute (although he beat him at the dual). Nagao is 3-3 with losses to 2-4 and best win Schriever (9). Madrigal is 6-2 with wins over Van Dee and Wells, Wells is 5-2 with a win over Shawver and Brown is 5-3 with a win over Wells.

141 -- Bartlett, Mendez, Woods, Hardy, Lemley -- 3-5 all have two losses in conference (a round robin) -- Hardy lost to Mendez at CKLV, Lemley did not wrestle the OSU dual due to a failed skin check and Woods didn't face Mendez.

149 -- Lovett, Gomez, Rathjen, Kasak, Miller -- Kasak could be 4 through 6 as he like Miller and Zargo have 2 losses. He only had 3 dual wins in conference. He has the best wins of the three of them.

157 -- Haines, Blockhus, Saldate, Franek or B.Lee -- Both Haines and Blockhus are undefeated. Both beat Franek and Robb. Haines also beat Saldate and Lewan while Blockhus beat Blaze and Chumbley. Interetsing call at 7-8. Robb is 2-4 with 2 wins over Lewan who is 3-3.

165 -- Hamiti, Mesenbrink, Caliendo, Fish -- Hamiti and Mesenbrink both undefeated. Both beat Caliendo, Fish, Taylor, Hepner.

174 -- Starocci, Griffith, Kennedy, Ruth -- Starocci and Griffith undefeated. Starocci did not wrestle the Michigan dual so could be punished. Similar wins -- Kennedy, Welsh and Wilson. Ruth is 7-1 with loss to Kennedy but did not face Hamiti or Starocci. Kennedy is 6-2 only losing to top 2.

184 -- Salazar, Pinto, Truax, Rogotzke -- Rogotzke could move to 3 based on win over Truax. Truax is 5-2 while Rogotzke is 3-1.

197 -- Brooks, J.Smith, Glazier, Allred -- Smith/Glazier could go either way.

285 -- Kerkvliet, Feldman, Davison, Tabor.

"Daylight saving time will begin for 2024 on March 10 at 2 a.m. local time, when our clocks will go ahead one hour" Just wondering if the loss of 1 hr of sleep due to the time change will affect the wrestlers, especially those at schools in the Central time zone.

I see the 2023 BT championship Session III (consi semis and 7th pl bouts) at UMich (eastern time zone) began at 1 pm EST (Mar 5, 2023 was still standard time), whereas 2024 Session III at UMd is due to begin at 12 noon EDT. By Session IV on Sunday afternoon, there's probably no lasting effect.

LMAO, please list all the times the homer-ten has penalized the undefeated, multi-time champ (riding a Nation leading 63 match wiwin streak - no one else in same zipcode) for skipping a match??? How many matches did Snyder skip? Your notion that Starocci can't miss a match due to illness without losing his #1 seed is beyond amusing.

Some people have missed weigh-ins with less of an excuse.

I’m not being critical of your question, it’s a good one, but you only lose an hour of sleep if you set your clocks ahead Sunday at 2 a.m. If you set them ahead Saturday evening, you didn’t lose the sleep, you lost the time awake. I realize wrestlers at the end of Session II might have it a bit tougher, but it isn’t like the daylight savings change will catch any wrestlers or coaches by surprise, and I think they will implement the necessary accommodations for the clock change.

But we are talking about B1G seeding right?

Does Ryder Rogotzke’s loss to Purdue’s James Rowley at the clarion open count towards seeding? While not a big ten dual, still a big ten opponent.
