Got a message from the Phillies today about this. And Pete Rose is being kept out of baseball--for gambling? Mind you I quite agree with his ban as he bet on games he was involved with. But this makes it that much harder to justify....

This shows what a rigged system all the gambling industry is. They are essentially giving away hundreds of millions of dollars just to get you on their system, to get your contact info, and get you addicted. They know they will make that back several times over once people are hooked.Got a message from the Phillies today about this. And Pete Rose is being kept out of baseball--for gambling? Nah, he still bet on games he was in, this seems like a completely separate thing.
I fully agree--but the lines are being erased by stuff like this....Agree. MLB's gambling prohibitions are very specific and Rose has no case.

If you gamble, you are a fool.

It wasn't that long ago that Willy Mays and the Mick were banned for associating with a casino....
I wouldn't make such a sweeping generalization. There are some that do very well at it.If you gamble, you are a fool.
And some that do it once in a while for fun and they win some and lose some....no big deal. I bet a little on horse racing and I just do it for fun when I go to the track....I don’t lose much and I don’t win much, but it’s fun.I wouldn't make such a sweeping generalization. Not all but most are. Because they do too much with making gut type decisions that have nothing to do with actual Analytics. This shows what a rigged system all the gambling industry is. I remember back in 20 years ago when I was an assistant coach and I got a call from the head coach telling me that I had to coach the game by myself that night. I asked him if he was okay and he said yes and would explain in a couple days. The reason that he had to go was to help his old high school friend who had run up quite a tab gambling. He had to sell his house near myrtle beach and came to live with my guy until he could get back on his feet.
Did the time and time to forgive, forget and celebrate the greatest BBall mind and competitor of all-time.Agree. MLB's gambling prohibitions are very specific and Rose has no case.
Yep. There may even be a few of them on this board.I wouldn't make such a sweeping generalization. There are some that do very well at it.

I do always love people that use Martingale or some other strategy at the tables that think they've found an edge.Odds of success are with the casino in table games. You're probably foolish to think you will come out ahead in the long run (unless counting cards, etc). Sports bettors and good poker players can change the odds in their favor. Anyone that can do that will likely have success and are from a fool.
That movie was painful to watch for me, with how awful and completely unrealistic any of the gambling scenes were...it was like watching that horrific "Money Talks" reality show from several years back following "Steve Stevens", a guy that claimed to be a successful gambler (and picks seller) yet had zero traits of anyone that actually wins at it.
Yeah, my buddies tried that in Vegas once playing roulette. I told them it was not smart. They also sought out the tables where there were there were a string of consecutive red/blacks to bet the opposite (also not smart). Things went very poorly. I spent my time winning a poker tournament.I do always love people that use Martingale or some other strategy at the tables that think they've found an edge.
Your friends were doing it wrong...they just needed to find the hot blackjack or roulette table. I've been told that's the easiest way to win.Yeah, my buddies tried that in Vegas once playing roulette. I told them it was not smart.
