Iowa can't win scrambles. They are horrible with that part of their game. I'm glad Brands spends all his time preaching hand fighting and being heavy on the head.
Yeah, getting taken down and then looking to stall out the opponent in the last minute of a match is not what you would call a “strategy” let alone a winning one
Figs wrestled the edge . When he did that against PSU we screamed. I hate that style of wrestling. He should have been dinged for stalling at least one other time .
Remember some years ago when Tim Foley said Mark Hall wouldn't win a national title because he lacked a variety of attacks? (LOL, Mark won that year.)
Turns out that was Ayala. He was the aggressor throughout the match, but his primary attack was slide-bys. (He has a good sweep single too, but he didn't use it nearly as much, and that's really it.)
That enabled Figs' strategy. It's a lot easier to back up for 2 minutes and then counter, when you only have to defend 1 or 2 moves.
I don't care for FIgs' style in that match, but it was perfect for Ayala.

Starocci can come back. Bernie is a loss but I'm not sure he's any better than Barr.
Iowa officially misses the podium this year for a team trophy. Highest they can get is 4th and lowest 8th.
It wouldn’t be an a Iowa loss if there wasn’t a ref’s decision to complain about
Ayala stalled the whole match against Davis when they went. Iowa should NEVER cry about stalling.
This will be over at midnight…. And I’m in ARIZONA!!!!!!
Pretty sure there’s a trophy again for 4th. Maybe I’m wrong but I’ve taken note of it being said because I didn’t think so anymore.
Fix's next attack might be his first since Thursday.
If they would just let the Brands brothers ref they'd never lose but the corrupt NCAA won't allow it.
I thought the NCAA isn't awarding a 4tĥ place trophy anymore. If not, can we still say Iowa got podium.? We can just put an asterisk beside it...
Fix has had covid six times because he refuses to take shots.
How do we attract viewers to this crap when every match has at least one 90 second break for video review?
For a fan base that is supposed to be so knowledgeable doesn't seem to get that some wrestlers create their own luck. Every PSU guys wins because the refs want them to or they stalled or the other guy laid down, However if a Hawk guy loses the other guy stalled or the ref screwed them somehow. Its quit fascinating to witness.
Fix’s final matches are symbolic of his whole college career— LONG!
OMG with the video reviews. It’s unwatchable for even we diehards.
We're almost an hour in & the third match hasn't even finished yet. I think we need a little more wrestling & a little less reviewing. Wow!
Vito is going to get another stall against Fix if he keeps wrestling at this pace
