2022 Recruiting Class Thread

Here’s how you “buy” them.

1. They know they will be well coached.
2. They know they will have games on a big stage.
3. They know they will be playing for a elite team.
4 They know if they compete and win a spot they can play themselves into a high draft pick and huge dollars.

That’s how you buy players offer them a bright future.
Dont forget cash and prizes.

Enai White lists his contenders, and mentions that "I probably do want to get away [from home]", but says that he'll go wherever feels like home.

Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, and the rest are involved in this one.

This is so frustrating. The kinda kid we need to beat OSU along with a more competent coach. Kiss him goodbye...

Enai White is SEC bound. He has given multiple interviews where he has said that he wants to play in the South.

2022 PSU offers board is starting to look like the recruiting "methodology" that Duzzy practices at Pitt. Just send out as many offers as possible and hope some blindly hit home.

What happened to the "build relationships" model that Franklin has hung his hat on since he got to PSU? Did it totally get destroyed by Covid?

I thought you followed recruiting more closely than that.

First, the only change is one that has been forced by COVID. PSU traditionally would establish relationships, but would wait until a prospect visited PSU (where they could verify size, interest, etc.) before they made a scholarship offer. With visits by prospects being shut down since February, and most prospects doing virtual schools last spring as well as many still going virtual or doing a hybrid model, the prospects were getting absolutely swamped by texts, phone calls, requests for Zoom sessions, etc. (They generally get swamped with communications, but this was above and beyond the norm.) Many prospects started limiting their communications to only schools that had offered them a 'ship. As a result, PSU attempts to build relationships online, over the phone, via Zoom, etc., but has had to make offers to quite a few prospects that they have never seen in-person.

PSU has tweaked this a bit, in that they created a virtual workout platform, where prospects workout on video, and upload the videos to PSU. This has helped PSU in some regards.

The only other change has been that with a number of new coaches added last offseason, PSU has taken advantage of relationships these new coaches have in regions that PSU did not, in general, recruit all that hard. That's not much of a change, in that PSU has been modifying areas they recruit throughout CJF's tenure each time there was a change in the coaching staff.

PSU still prioritizes which positions it needs to focus on, which areas it wants to focus on, and at each position which prospect(s) is at the top of their board, etc.

Yesterday, Mike Farrell posted on social media that Zach Rice, a 5 Star OT in the Class of 2022 from Virginia, is going to release his Top 8 schools this weekend. In that same post, Farrell asked the public to comment on where they think Rice will commit to. Anyways, Zach Rice himself responded back to Farrell and said "Penn State". Be on the lookout for Rice's Top 8 this weekend. There are two 5 Star Offensive Linemen (Gunner Givens is the other) from Virginia in the Class of 2022 that we are in on, so hopefully the Class of 2022 recruiting continues with its momentum.

OMG - “Fonzie is blessed to have received an offer from Pennsylvania State University!” 🏈

Did not see that coming.....! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Lot of "out of region" offers going out.....we must tell them to at least put our hat on the table because some on here love that even if we don't get picked. DB from Tulsa, OK? why are we even trying to form a relationship with him? SMH......start spending all your time in NC, VA, MD, DC, WV, PA, OH, NY, MA, CT, etc.......We aren't a national recruiting brand for 4-5 star guys.

Where is Parker Washington from? You know, our leading reciever last game? You should know. It's not a trick question.

Yeah - no one has ever transferred out after signing from inside our regional recruiting footprint nor ever signed from somewhere outside of it lol
By all means, let's shrink our recruiting net - we are already doing too good inside our local area. :|
