Who will the next Iowa coach be?

Tom is not going anywhere. His teams still compete hard and are always a threat.

Penn State’s success the last dozen years has put them behind, but the sustained success cannot be ignored.

I do agree that by courting a Pat Downey and the Ferrari's, Iowa does appear desperate. While entertaining, this is something an Iowa should never feel the need to pursue.
This has been rehashed 1000x, but there's much more to running a successful college wrestling program, in this day and age, than competing hard.

With Iowa's history and current resources, that program is massively underachieving.

I mean that’s pretty much the only way you can rate the quality of a living experience. Not by cost of living or crime rates or tax rates or any of the hundreds of things more important than fancy food.
Does cow tipping get added in to the crime rates?

Will Lewan
Lewan was actually interviewed about this, here's a clip:

All the highest rated restaurants are steakhouses, burger joints and mediocre Italian food. That pretty much speaks for itself.
I wonder where "high end (insert favorite cuisine) restaurants" falls on most college coaches' requirements list when making that decision? Maybe Tom Ryan's list, but anyone else?

If you spent a week in Iowa, you would be amazed at how friendly everyone is. You would start to think that you are surrounded by total stuck up snobs in whatever part of the country you are currently in, unless it happened to be North Dakota or Minnesota.
But from reading your other posts, it may be that you are amongst your own kind when surrounded by stuck up snobs and shallow people.
Or, I'm just a shitposter who baited you :)

Speaking of Iowa, I haven't seen Ironbird post on the Iowa board in quite some time. Keep in mind, he seemed to favor Big Ten accomplishments over NCAA accomplishments. I wonder if he is still laughing at us for thinking "whoever our kid is at 165 will have any shot against Caliendo".
Did he actually say that about 165? All it took for me was to watch Mesenbrink for about 2 minutes in folkstyle to see he was a serious problem

I am pretty sure Ironbird couldn't count the number of shots Mesenbrink took against Caliendo :)
Just kidding..............I'm certain he couldn't.............:)

Maybe that's how Iowa afforded all the Ferraris -- Ira has secret 100% matching of Slumlord Bob's donations.

And just wait until he opens the Nittany Mall casino and uses Hawk and Buck money against them.
Speaking of the Lord of Slum, dude scrubbed all his posts since May 2023 - the Alli Ragan fiasco time frame. Though, curiously, his cloddish (to be extremely charitable) comments about her still remain. I wonder who sat him down and told him to scale back his messageboarding.

One of the funniest/least helpful retorts in that Ragan “ski town joke” fiasco was Corby helpfully replying that BNic had experience in the ski industry don’t you know.

My comment had nothing to do with this lady. It’s an old ski town joke aimed at guys

Relax, you can do it, you can really do it
Not sure most know you've been in the ski business .

"If I was an Iowa fan, why would I help Zahid Valencia get into the snow business?"

They do make their own fun…..and I’ve joined it 8 times. It’s that much fun.

RAGBRAI….the rolling Mardi Gras
RAGBRAI is fun even if you don't like bicycles. Many good memories from my 20's during RAGBRAI. Everyone should do it atleast once in their life.

I remember drunk people booing Lance Armstrong when he rode by with a straight face. Lmao

When I was 9 years old my dad built a makeshift water fountain/shower out of 2" PVC for bikers riding through our small town to use. We put out a donation jar to help pay the water bill. My dad said his water bill was paid up for the year after all the generous donations. So many women showering in Spandex or less. Good times!

This is a really pi&& poor take on any location. It's elitist. Iowa's board may have some serious morons on it, but it's a lovely state. The people are phenomenal, the very heart of America. But hey, they are low on fine dining. Ffs, at least pretend you're not a bigot towards other Americans. Just give it a try.

FYI, if you eat any pork at all, most likely, it's coming from 2 states, Iowa or North Carolina. Iowa also has some phenomenal chefs. Furthermore, Iowa City has far better chefs and restaurants than State College, PA. It's not remotely close.

I will agree with this. In the grocery business some of the nicest work for HyVee. And I have had some great meals in Des Moines. Most recently at Clyde’s Finer Diner.

There's a reason, Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives is the No1 or No2 rated show on Food Network.

Also, no one from Pennsylvania should be ripping on other states. That's for damn sure. They call us Pennsytucky for a reason.

That's what my South Carolina wife tells everyone that I'm from. Of course she is right. One of our two bathrooms was an outhouse.

Empty your clip if you want, but I’m giving Brands this one. Top rung ADS hater in the day, I see this “coaching kids” video and really like Desanto’s maturity. Especially where he says he doesn’t want the kids to see how he used to act, a subtly powerful admission of the shame he feels for the antics.
What I always admired about him, apart from that motor, was coming back from two heartbreaking Friday nights in March to steamroll to 3rd-place medals. It’s the ultimate team player who tables crushing personal defeats to scrap like a wolverine for his band of brothers. His far more decorated buddy should’ve taken that lesson to heart, avoiding a boatload of fallout.
