If the Penn State faculty has time to delve into pure nonsense like this, then this is evidence that we have too many members of the faculty and a 25% layoff is mandated.Sorry Bob, but we are actually doomed.

Thanks for this resolution, I will sleep so much better tonight. And thanks to them for making a huge difference in the lives of our students. one just wasn't enoughSorry Bob, but we are actually doomed.

I wouldn’t say someone, it’s more like a plethora of they’s them’s and those’s.Someone has too much free time on their hands.
It reads like something you'd see in The Onion. Those in the academic world must have a lot of free time on their hands.Am I still an alum?
Excuse me: It’s Deze, Dems and Doze guysI wouldn’t say someone, it’s more like a plethora of they’s them’s and those’s.
Am I still an alum?
Ashley Martin and Sarah Fuller say hi.If anybody doesn’t think the football team will go coed in our lifetimes, you’re not paying attention.
Hmmm, alumnus/alumna have genders so a neutral term is needed. Alumnoid? I would think that you're safe to be one of the Penn State Alumni though.Am I still an alum?
Even though there are corresponding sports for both boys basketball and baseball, if a girl wants to try out for one of my teams that I coach I have to let her.If anybody doesn’t think the football team will go coed in our lifetimes, you’re not paying attention.
I’ll second that.If the Penn State faculty has time to delve into pure nonsense like this, then this is evidence that we have too many members of the faculty and a 25% layoff is mandated.
It looks like sophomore will also be replaced but it's not clear why.Sorry Bob, but we are actually doomed.

It has the word “homo” in it?It looks like sophomore will also be replaced but it's not clear why.
I fancy myself a bit of an alumnaphile.Hmmm, alumnus/alumna have genders so a neutral term is needed. Alumnoid? I would think that you're safe to be one of the Penn State Alumni though.
But women has the word men in it just as freshmen does? Is that ok to use?It has the word “homo” in it?
You and your paternalistic attitude are central to the problem. In your reply you repeatedly used unacceptable terms and pronouns, such as boys, girl, parents and a host of others to odorous to repeat. Most repulsive of all was the the use of “ father and dad”. In the future please reference this particular entity as “ probable sperm donor “.Even though there are corresponding sports for both boys basketball and baseball, if a girl wants to try out for one of my teams that I coach I have to let her.
I've never had an issue with a girl or her parents about basketball but in baseball there was a girl and more specifically her father who wanted her to be on the baseball team just about more than life itself. The girl would have been a very good softball player as she had good speed and a pretty good arm she just couldn't hit baseball. The girl understood but her dad was crazy. She tried out again the next year after playing for an all-girls baseball team the entire summer before but any time she faced live pitching that was more than 70 miles an hour she couldn't touch it. I honestly think the girl could have been a scholarship level softball player if she had been doing that for most of her life but Dad wouldn't let it happen.
I have no idea. I will be sitting in a corner muttering uncontrollably for the next few hours. But women has the word men in it just as freshmen does? Is that ok to use?
Does that title work if the donor shoots blanks? Asking for a friend...You and your paternalistic attitude are central to the problem. Mother Nature didn’t deal the cards dad wanted so he thinks he’ll just make up for it. Sad.Even though there are corresponding sports for both boys basketball and baseball, if a girl wants to try out for one of my teams that I coach I have to let her.

Good point. Along that line, the literal Latin translation of alma mater is "generous mother". That's too gender specific. I'm sure the faculty senate is all over it.Ban “paternalistic”. Evokes thoughts of Joe Paterno.
The “We are doomed” stuff is becoming less satire and more reality every day, isn’t it?Ban “paternalistic”. Evokes thoughts of Joe Paterno.
There are really two very sad scenarios here. This is what supposed intellectuals do with their time. Just think, this type of person (can I use that word? It has son in it which sounds paternalistic and thus oppressive) is responsible for educating our children. Just to believe that this is worth discussing, or writing about or voting on is beyond belief. They probably were getting paid to do this. The original poster is correct, we are doomed.
no way, a few years ago I happened to be in a dorm at PSU and there was a bulletin board posting that reminded students not to use the term "guys" when referring to groups of peopleExcuse me: It’s Deze, Dems and Doze guys
So I am assuming the Penn Stare Theater Club will not be putting in their version of “Guys and Dolls”
Are you allowed to "identify" as a freshman even if you're a woman?Sorry Bob, but we are actually doomed.
