I missed doing this one earlier (it took them a while to get their roster posted). Today I’m visiting an up and coming program in Orem. The Wolverines are one of the newer programs to D1 wrestling, starting in 2003-04.

Edit (in light of the info about LaMont missing the season):
125 - Brown (Sr) <Payson, UT>

Mitch Brown went 16-14 as UVU's starter in 2017 and didn't qualify for the tournament. He did have wins against qualifiers, Schwarm (ISU) and Nickell (CSUB).

125 – LaMont (So) <Maple Mountain, UT>

Taylor LaMont went 27-5 overall and made it to the round of 12 at the tournament from the 7 seed while battling through with an ACL injury. Against returning 125 AAs last season, he beat #4 Lizak and #6 Rivera and was 2-2 against #8 Moisey.

133 – Lloren (So) <Buchanan, CA>

Durbin Lloren went 15-17 last season and didn’t qualify for the tournament. He had one win against a qualifier (Evan Cheek – Cleveland St).

141 – Findlay (So) <Alta, UT>

Matthew Findlay went 11-9 last season and didn’t qualify for the tournament (no wins against qualifiers).

149 – LaMont (Jr) <Maple Mountain, UT> or Ontiveros (Sr) <Central, CA>

Grant LaMont had an injury shortened season, going 9-6. He had one win against a qualifier (Krivus – UVA). Matthew Ontiveros took over for LaMont and went 12-15 last season and didn’t qualify for the tournament. He had one win against a former qualifier (Zovistoski – App St). For a Penn State connection, Ontiveros also got decked by Bo Pipher.

157 – Racer (Jr) <Apple Valley, MN - among others>

Dayton Racer continues his journey and transferred from Clackamas Community College after a brief flirtation with tOSU. His biggest win last season was against former AA, Paul Fox (Stan). Racer was the JC national champ @ Iowa Central in 2017. Hopefully, Racer makes positive use out of his talent at UVU. Last season’s starter, Raider Lofthouse (Sr), went 1-15.

165 – Romero (Jr) <Mountain Valley, ID>

Demetrius Romero went 26-9 overall and 1-2 in the tournament last season. His loses in the tourney came against Nick Wanzek and Isaiah White. Romero started at Boise State in 16/17 before wrestling was replaced with baseball (boooooooo!!!!!).

174 – Bastian (Jr) <Maple Mountain, UT>

Kimball Bastian went 20-11 overall and 1-2 in the tournament last season. His loses in the tourney came against Kocer (SDSU) and Przybysz (App St).

184 – Jantzer (So) <Marshfield, OR>

Gary Jantzer went 18-13 last season and didn’t qualify for the tournament. His best win was against former qualifier Nick Corba (Cleveland St).

197 – Orndorff (Jr) <University, WA>

Tanner Orndorff went 21-15 overall and 0-2 in the tournament last season. His loses in the tourney came against Brunner (Pur) and Kollin Moore.

Heavy – Ordorff (Fr) <University, WA>

Tate Ordorff takes over as the starter at heavyweight. He went 15-7 as a redshirt last season. He had some solid wins, including against Malik McDonald (NCSt) and AJ Nevills. Last season, Dustin Dennison went 29-11 overall and 0-2 in the tournament.

Utah Valley returns 4 of their record breaking 5 qualifiers from last season. The Wolverines only got 4 points at the tournament last season. However, they should outdo that this season. A healthy Taylor LaMont has a very good shot to become UVU’s 3rd ever AA [Edit: in 19/20].
