Robert Kraft charged with Soliciting Prostitution

It would be if it were legal and regulated like any other business.
That is so wrong , like 100% wrong. Do you really think arc Traffickers will stop? Hadn’t worked in Amsterdam where almost one hundred percent of the prostitutes are trafficked via Eastern Europe.
Pimps and Traffickers won’t stop if it’s legslized. All you’ll do is add a layer of legality that will make it harder to get to the pimps.

I love these bizarre Libertarian Free Market arguments he’s using for awful activity like this.

I would guess that the vast majority of these women are, or have been, trafficked. And that many of them are being trafficked now.

I hope a rule is enacted that if you buy sex from and engage in sex with a prostitute, and she is a trafficking victim, they cut you a slice of the trafficking sentence to go with your misdemeanors.

Not really. There would still be a large measure of duress involved for some women to monetize their bodies. Some would be doing it of their free will - many not. It would only have the appearance of propriety in those instances.
If it were legal and anyone was doing it against their will, they could seek out law enforcement. Now that is not an option.

This is a very surprising development. Because he wears those dark shirts with the white collars all the time, I figured that Kraft has to be gay.

Like the guys making a ton of cash aren’t going to try to keep making a ton of cash. The guys who have the “ corporate infrastructure “ already in place. As in Eastern European mob , Chinese mob, and mob.
It’s not like me choir director can just say see ya honey I’m off to the rub and tug ! Be back soon! The stonewall riots weren’t police busting a gay bar. It was police busting a mob gay bar that was a front for drug dealing and blackmail.

Based on your argument, after Prohibition ended, the mob should have still controlled the manufacturing and distribution of liquor in the US. I'm pretty sure that's not how it worked out.

At least I know how the "reply" button works, Stratton. Guess happy hour has already started for you.

I hope they force him to sell the team.
That is REALLY funny. By the time the NFL, The Donald, and Tommy Girl get done spinning this you will see the light that Special Bobby K is the victim here.

"he has just never recovered from the immense sadness of his dear Myra passing away......sigh"

Go talk to the police in Amsterdam moron and see how that works out. Prostitution isn't drinking. I can go to the bar and have a drink and no on cares. I can't go to the whorehouse, my wife would object. See the difference? Sex is done in private, and the mob will still control it. the mob and pimps want Vegas to set upo a red light district because they'll make more money.
In Amsterdam the mob still makes the money. They force the trafficked women to get their license, they say thye have no pimp because the pimp has their passport and cell phone. Maybe some folk at home to threaten their family, good times.
So they say they have no pimp but they all have pimps which in turn makes it harder on law enforcement to help the trafficked women.

Some wives absolutely would care if you went to a bar for a drink (there are many people in this country that disapprove of alcohol use).

And some wives absolutely wouldn't care if you went to a prostitute. Not all couples have the same relationship that you and your wife have.

So, no, I don't see the difference.

I have a friend who likes to gamble. His wife does not approve. He goes to legal casinos, not to illegal ones. If your argument held water, he would have to gamble on the black market because his wife didn't approve of his hobby.

Hahaha. Do you know how many of these girls are doing it under the threat of harm being done to their families in whatever. hellhole they are from. Good luck getting extraterritorial jurisdiction over that mess - especially if rich people in said hellholes are involved.

I appreciate your point, but prostitution, like alcohol, drugs and gambling, will never go away. We'd be much better off legalizing and regulating it than either ignoring it (which is what is mostly done now) or trying to police it (which is done infrequently and poorly).

Maybe it is the True Detective in me, but something is not right to have such an extensive sting on a $59 Oriental Spa message parlor that featured happy endings for its clients. Jabone's like us are caught in those places, not Billionaire NFL owners who are supposedly not even the biggest names.

Something does not feel right here.

Oh...and Elderick Woods lives in Jupiter Florida, I am just saying if someone is thinking of a bigger name than Kraft.

It weird. Kraft is certainly a celebrity, so he's going to go to a $59 "spa?" He's just going to drive in, get out of his Bentley, walk on in and as for the Gillett Special? Not saying its not true but stupidity on a Bezosian scale.

These crackdowns happen from time to time around the country (often times right before or right after a local election). This one was supposedly driven by trafficking concerns, which is a very legitimate reason to do a sting of this magnitude (as opposed to say people trying to legislate sexual morality).

Absolutely not true. If it's legalized, prostitutes would have rights. They could form unions. They could call on law enforcement when they get abused by johns or beaten up by pimps.

In fact conditions for prostitutes are MUCH MUCH better in Europe because it has been legalized. And yes, a lot of the prostitutes are Eastern European because they come from impoverished villages with no other job skills, but it doesn't mean they are working as slaves. They are sex workers because they see it as their best option -- why pass judgment.

Prostitution is SO much more dangerous in the U.S. because prostitutes and johns both can't call the police if they get hurt. Keeping it illegal is what the pimps and gangs want. It means the bad guys control the entire industry.

Of course kidnapping and trafficking are a problem but legitimizing prostitution definitely helps law enforcement focus on the bad guys.

I've never needed the services of a prostitute, but I would not pass judgement against those who do, including Mr. Kraft. There are plenty of lonely people out there. There are people who are loyal to their married partners who are nevertheless not getting sex. Hiring a prostitute should be as straightforward as hiring a dental hygienist or a message therapist. It's just a service.

Arresting people for giving a handjob makes as much sense as arresting someone for smoking a joint.

This is America, supposed to be land of the free, and yet we still have all these absurd criminal laws based on Puritan or Victorian morality.

I can't answer this definitively. But I think I agree with this at least on some level. Having been in the army, I know lots of people who have been in Germany. They appreciated the business aspect of it. They'd go to the place of business and get what they wanted. No issues. Always used protection. Girls needed licensed, and tested to get that license.

Usually it's small-town pinhead police chiefs and sheriffs who don't have enough real crime to fight, so they make up this s--- so they can amuse themselves and generate revenue for their local government.

An amazing amount of the crime fighting in America is done simply for money. Which is sad.

Yeah I think on Netflix there's a documentary on this gigantic brothel in Berlin -- it's this giant 10-story hotel of sex that has like 300 prostitutes living in it. It looks really strange, the women are not all happy with their jobs, but at least they are physically safe, they're not going to get robbed or beaten up or thrown in jail.

It's just so depressing that here in the US we are so backward -- these issues never get resolved because we have dysfunctional government at every level; morons and charlatans have all the power in this country.

Some back ground info about sex-trafficking in Florida that we may have forgotten

The story behind a Palm Beach sex offender’s remarkable deal...
Link: https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/article220097825.html

Acosta has never fully explained why he felt it was in the best interests of the underage girls — and their parents — for him to keep the agreement sealed. Or why the FBI investigation was closed even as, recently released documents show, the case was yielding more victims and evidence of a possible sex-trafficking conspiracy beyond Palm Beach.

“At the end of the day, based on the evidence, professionals within a prosecutor’s office decided that a plea that guarantees someone goes to jail, that guarantees he register [as a sex offender] generally and guarantees other outcomes, is a good thing,’’ Acosta said of his decision to not prosecute Epstein federally.

Marci Hamilton, a University of Pennsylvania law professor who is one of the nation’s leading advocates for reforming laws involving sex crimes against children, said what Acosta and other prosecutors did is similar to what the Catholic Church did to protect pedophile priests.

“The real crime with the Catholic priests was the way they covered it up and shielded the priests,’’ Hamilton said. “The orchestration of power by men only is protected as long as everybody agrees to keep it secret. This is a story the world needs to hear.’’
That story is depressing.

Inh Amsterdam in the sex trafficking episode of the series Traffickers the interviewer found almost all the girls had pimps and were trafficked. The government in some cases doesn't care because now they get a cut from tax revenue so they don'tr look into the issue.
They don't care. All the problems are still there but taxes are paid.

It's just plain dumb to think those who profit from the sex trade will be put out of business by making it legal. the issue is demand and supply. There aren't enough women willing to work in the industry on their own free will to supply the demand. So organized crime steps in to fil that gap.

There were 10 spas in the raid. Would assume there are some pretty significant laws being broken by the people running it in Florida and outside the US.

Reports also say when all is said and done with Kraft, the video that alleges to show him having sex, will absolutely be made public.
