So what you're saying is it would've helped if the College Football playoff selection committee had chosen the Big Ten Champions instead of the Big Ten 3rd place team.Actually, that wouldn't help much, if at all, most years, unless they made at least the Elite 8 at NCAAs. You can only count your 10 highest scoring men's teams and your 10 highest scoring women's team. So most years they would just replace a lower scoring team and gain a few points unless they finished rather high up. The key is having 20 scoring teams (which we do most years) but also having a bunch of them finish high, especially of course, those that win. The max for a sport is 100. Stanford won again this year as they have every year this has been in existence and they had 4 NCAA champs, 2 2nd places, and 5 additional sports score 75+ points.
