Penn State Wrestling Fans!!!!!!

Once again, we are in the final stretch of another exciting wrestling season. We finished up the regular season this past weekend on Senior day with a solid performance against a scrappy Clarion team. Each year comes and goes very fast, and this year has been no exception to that. We now have a little over a week before we head to Ann Arbor for the Big 10 Wrestling Tournament, so the guys are putting in the time to be ready to go.

After Christmas we had a stretch of weekends where we were consistently tested, and the team was able to step up every time and compete well. There is a lot that goes into being ready every weekend and often multiple times a weekend and the guys handled it well. At the beginning of the year we sat down with several guys and mapped out a plan that would work for them individually as they are getting later in their careers. Having a plan in place before any of our matches for the season began allowed for decisions to be made without emotions being involved. Obviously, everybody would love to see all our guys competing in every match but that is not how things always work when you are looking out for what may be best for each individual wrestler and where they are at in their career.

It has been fun to watch this teams progress over the year. We have a group of veterans but also have 4 freshmen in the starting lineup, so it has been great to watch from week to week how these guys have worked to figure things out. Their progress is seen in competition but even more so in the practice room. How these guys carry themselves each day in their commitment to living the lifestyle which includes: getting enough sleep, eating right, training, recovery, etc. to name a few are what allows them to get better during the season. It will be fun to watch all these guys let it rip in the Big Ten and National Tournaments. There have only been a couple times this year where we have had our entire starting line up compete together so it will make for an great few weeks to come.

Thank you to all the fans as we sold out every home match again and tied our previous indoor attendance record. We had a great following on the road as well with Rider breaking their attendance record and several other schools having some of their best crowds ever when we competed there. We appreciate all the continued support and look forward to seeing the Blue and White in the stands in the post season. Provided is a link to our webpage that will have the articles from each match this year.

In some of the grow-the-sport-at-all-costs-by-making-every-dual-matter corners of the internet, this passage is heresy:

I like how he threw in that "to name a few" in there. Keep them scouring the binder to no avail.
