16-16 in the 4th quarter, and the Bears take a 23-16 lead late on a Stafford pick-six. Then the Lions drive down to red zone. Less than two minutes to go trying to tie the game, and Stafford throws an interception in the end zone.

Bears win, 23-16.

Detroit must be playing the wrong quarterback. Obviously Stafford needs fired. So does their offensive coordinator. Maybe Matt Patricia too.

What a mess.

I winder if-when he was a kid-Matt Patricia was called “Matty Patty”.

Article: Is It Time for the Detroit Lions to Give Up on Matthew Stafford?

See the link below. From the article:

"At home, on national television, in his team's annual marquee game, Matthew Stafford had a chance on Thanksgiving to help his Detroit Lions salvage their season with a win that would have moved Detroit within a game of a wild-card spot in the NFC.

All the 30-year-old quarterback had to do was put together a sturdy performance and help the Lions beat an opponent that was traveling on less rest than any team in the NFL this season.

The CBS broadcast crew actually suggested that the Chicago Bears were the first team in NFL history playing a game just 85 hours after their previous game ended, and injury was added to insult because they were without franchise quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.

Despite all of those circumstances, the Lions failed. So did Stafford, who was outdueled by career backup quarterback Chase Daniel in a shameful 23-16 loss at Ford Field.

The highly-paid but inconsistent veteran signal-caller threw two interceptions—including a game-deciding pick-six—on as many fourth-quarter drives as his team blew a four-point lead in that frame, leaving the Lions circling the drain at 4-7 with still more than a month remaining in head coach Matt Patricia's debut season."

As a Bears fan the outcome was sweet. They played without Trubisky and on short test away and won. Could be their year ( to make the playoffs that is). Plus they have ARob and Adrian Amos on the team.

For what they're paying him, he should play better. Yesterday's game was winnable for the Lions.
Unfortunately, this is a lesson on modern NFL economics. Stafford would blow up the Lions cap situation if they wanted to move on. That said, I could never figure out why they paid him so much for the long term. The guy is Jeff George with a better attitude. He’s all arm and gets his stats when there’s nothing on the line.
