Football GAMEDAY THREAD: Penn State vs. Central Michigan

We also miss Izzard and Vilbert...they are big bodies who played a bit last year, and while they aren't fantastic, it depletes numbers.

I really think Kaytron needs more carries than Nick today...he is the road grater that can run physical between the tackles. JF salivates for big plays/runs, when sometimes establishing an attitude is what you need. Our 3rd down offense is 13th in the B1G, which is in large part that the OL is still a major work in progress.

Dylan had a nice position by position breakdown and the amount of stars they came in with....and obviously that doesn't always translate. But, I believe the starting OL for PSU each had 4 stars...at some point you have to look at scheme or position coach...or both.

Penn State is back on the board, Kaytron Allen with some terrific vision finds the hole, and the Nittany Lions are now up 21-14.

CMU QB Daniel Richardson has had some really nice ball placement today. Chippewas have had some solid catches mixed in w/ their drops as well.

Johnny Dixon with some terrific coverage comes down with a big time interception. Stops a good CMU drive and Penns state takes over at their own 19-yard line.

Play is under review.

Clifford had multiple opportunities to run for gains and he hasn’t done it. He’s not nearly as effective as a straight drop back QB.

Clifford missing some easy throws here today. That last incomplete pass to Tinsley would've been for a big gain.
Unfortunately, this is typical Clifford. Inconsistent, and too much bad mixed in with the good, particularly for a 6th year senior. Don’t think it’s gonna change at this point.

The offense does not seem to have any spark or sense of urgency at least in the second quarter. On the other hand CMU seems to be dialed in.

This team has real trouble coming out to play a full game. They just don’t have the killer instinct like Ohio St or other top programs generally have. It’s been a long-standing problem for years that never gets fixed.

Add to that the D only half heartedly playing and Clifford’s hot/ cold play and you get these type games. This is how they lose a game every year to an Illinois, Indiana type team.
