Dice-awesome stuff done well in advance. Should be another fantastic event.

I saw Shane Ashworth-Hanson did not wrestle this past weekend. I was hoping to see a #2 v #3 (based on your seeding) in their dual v Parkland Sat. Any insight as to if that was precautionary rest or not?

152 is so stacked Mancini gets a 12 seed? Wow. I was thinking the win vs McClenahan was very good. Did the Hoffman loss hurt?

Hanson-Ashworth and Kassis wrestled last week at the Hurricane, with Kassis winning 1-0, thus the 2 seed (Kassis is also a former ETR champ). In fact it was an incident after that match that led to Hanson-Ashworth's sitting out the Parkland duals by PIAA rule. No worries, he will be there for ETR.

152 IS that stacked. Mancini is seeded right where he belongs, although the talent is so evenly distributed that the seeding is not going to hold up here and the weight is anyone's to grab. Consider that the 8 seed is a 2x ETR placewinner and the 9 seed is a Fargo AA who is was a blood round loser at both Ironman and Beast. Mancini had almost exactly the same qualifications as the group of 4 kids that comes next - state qualifier, region 3rd, ETR blood round loser. One of those kids placed at ETR last year so he is just above Mancini, another with the exact same qualifications just outplaced that kid last week so he got the 10th, the ETR placer 11th, Mancini 12th, and George Worthy - who is ranked 7th in NJ and has the same qualifications as Mancini - gets the 13.

Very tough weight. VA 6A state champ (not all state champs in VA are created equal) is seeded 15th.

Yes. Thanks, typo fixed.

Also, just to clarify how our process goes (which is similar to but not quite the same as a lot of big tournaments), a single win or a single loss is really not going to impact seeding unless it is used - along with other criteria - to evaluate wrestlers that are both competing in the same weight class at our tournament.

We have two ways wrestlers can earn points - postseason and in-season tournaments. These point totals are used to initially sort wrestlers and then wrestlers in similar point groups are compared on resumes and recent results. In the example you gave with Mancini, he had already earned a substantial amount of postseason points as a PA AAA state qualifier and region 3rd. A single win over a 7th place finisher is not going to add to his points. Multiple wins - say over a 5th place AND a 7th place - will bump his points up to the 7th place, but it's still not a huge difference between what he had already earned. We don't penalize kids for losses, unless they are as specified above, or part of an overall trend that we see for a wrestler. Kids win matches they shouldn't, kids lose matches they shouldn't, isolated results carry very little weight.

We get a lot of - "well my kid just beat that kid, who beat that kid, etc." - but seeding is a result of an overall resume that takes into account many different things. I feel very good about our process as we consistently have our seeds hold up as well as any other major tournament in the country and better than most.

Thanks. Just got home after wrapping it all up - missed a couple of PSU duals this weekend, but well worth it. Many coaches were very happy with the tournament which is the best satisfaction.

IMO our best tournament yet. Very contested three team race with PA, OH, & NJ all represented that wasn't clinched until the 10th match of the finals. BECA 173, Cincinnati LaSalle 171.5, Delbarton 167. No individual champs for Beca & LaSalle, but FOUR for Delbarton. NJ with 7 champs, PA with 5 and VA with 2. Pat Glory OW with a monster TF over Macri in finals, 4 OT matches in the finals and three went to UTB, with a great last match that saw Intermat's #1 138, Quinn Kinner win over FLO's #2 Ryan Anderson on an escape in UTB with about a second left on the clock.

If you missed it on FLO, PCN will have a replay of the finals on Saturday night.
