It’s possible if UM then beats Northwestern.PSU wins Saturday and OSU loses. Is it possible or not?
Rose Bowl Game has sole discretion on replacement team, and will generally select highest-rated available team, but will take into consideration final College Football Playoff rankings, head-to-head competition, division champions and most recent Rose Bowl Game appearances."
OSU is almost certainly going to stay in front of PSU in the CFP rankings, even if they lose this weekend.
So if they lose like 34-10, the committee (who has expressed doubt in OSU all season long) is going to go out of its way not to drop OSU below PSU just because OSU beat them?
Still remember when the Rose Bowl was a reward for a great Season and not a mediocre one. That's the problem with the watered down system now in place.
Didn’t PSU play a three loss Oregon in 1994. I remember being disappointed that was the best opponent we could get
We did but they were rated #9 after starting out 1-3. That was a heart-breaking loss.We played a 3 loss usc in 2016.

Hate to say it, but if tOSU loses by 3+ TD, both PSU and tOSU drop. Could easily see us drop to #14 and tOSU drop to #13. Unless we best MD by 40, then that changes things.
This. The debate is moot unless the team shows up with a dominant victory over the terps. Not impossible but based on the last several weeks i'm not sure it should be expected.
If psu doesn't drop after stinking it up vs rutgers, they won't fall for squeaking by md in the rain

Possible. The criteria is ambiguous. If OSU loses but stays ahead of Penn State unlikely. If they drop below us its possible but outside of ranking all the other criteria would seem to favor osu (h2h, overall record, higher finish in the division, most recent Rose Bowl appearance was the 2010 game vs 2 years ago.)
"ROSE BOWL GAME PRESENTED BY NORTHWESTERN MUTUAL (Pasadena, Calif.) 1. When not hosting a semifinal, Big Ten Champion will play in Rose Bowl Game, unless among top four teams. 2. If Big Ten Champion qualifies for playoff, Rose Bowl Game will choose a replacement Big Ten team. 3. Rose Bowl Game has sole discretion on replacement team, and will generally select highest-rated available team, but will take into consideration final College Football Playoff rankings, head-to-head competition, division champions and most recent Rose Bowl Game appearances."
