On a rainy day against an average punter he should be up 5-10 yards from where he has set up for every punt. He just pulled up and let a punt bounce that landed 1-2 yards from his feet. The job should go toThompkins.

A punt returner has to be confident and decisive in taking the correct first step and fielding the ball. Not everyone has that ability. Either drill it in to Allen or have someone else take his place. Completely agree. It is imperative in the field position game to have a punt returned who cleanly fields the ball when it is in the air as often as is reasonable, fair catch or not.
