Citrus It Is

I like the date, time, location and matchup. I see a great opportunity to finish with a win against a ranked team, giving us our 3rd consecutive 10+ win season and Top 10 finish.

agree that it has all these aspects - nice location, Jan 1, located in a hot recruiting state, playing against a ranked team. UK does not have the traditional brand that we would like to see in order to keep the players focused, but it is SEC opponent. could have been worse.

I was at the Outback Bowl when we played KY with Tim Couch -- KY traveled very well - it was close to 50/50 fans that day.

Kentucky has the best defensive player in college football
LOL. OK. One of the best maybe, but the best? C'mon.
Kentucky plays a style similar to Michigan
So an outdated offense and a defense that can't defend a crossing route? Cool.
Penn State may win but it'll be a battle
It may be a battle, but I don't see PSU losing this game.
SEC East > B10 East
Maybe, but if they are, not by much.
Georgia = OSU
Michigan > LSU
PSU = Florida
UK > MSU
USC = Indiana
Vandy = Maryland

Rutgers is trash as are Mizzou and UT.

UK fans are excited for the matchup. Most UK fans didn't quite understand how UF was ranked so highly in comparison either.

Ranking the 2018 bowl games 1-39

7. Citrus Bowl: No. 14 Kentucky (9-3) vs. No. 12 Penn State (9-3) – 1 p.m., Jan. 1, ABC
Kentucky’s defense has been one of the best in the SEC throughout 2018. The rushing attack is pretty damn good too with Benny Snell. Can the passing offense keep up with Penn State’s Trace McSorley? It’s the final game for the Nittany Lions QB and he’ll be complimented by running back Miles Sanders, who has replaced Saquon Barkley admirably in the backfield. Sanders has rushed for over 1,200 yards and scored nine touchdowns this season.

Not sure why you are so thin skinned to suggest I am underestimating your team. UK is not a long-established college football power. As such, the program has snuck up on people. So beating UK is not going to move the needle in terms of adding to the Penn State 'brand". However, losing will hurt the brand. Last year, you lost six games including your bowl against NW.

Good luck in the game. I know you have a good team, this year, and a good coach. My brother in law knows Coach Stoops well as they both played for Cardinal Mooney back in Youngstown.

As a UK fan, there's really no arguing this. A great bowl and opponent for us, very bleh for PSU.

People down here are fired up for this game. I had to give a breakdown of Penn State’s team about 10 times today. This is a very big deal for UK fans.

And how is that relevant to this year?
It's not....neither is the number of Final Fours UK has been in ;)

That's why they play the game on the field not on message boards, in the media or casinos

Looking forward to the game.

Kentucky fans (yes they exist) are bashing PSU for league bias... hahaha they're a trip. They're train of thought seems to be they should roll PSU...

Don't you know by now that there is no OPTIMISM or SILVER LININGS allowed on this board ;):D

Yep, some here believe that the bowl experience and it's impact on the reputation and recruiting is all about the opponent. But when players are interviewed they seem to focus on the fact that it is a nice reward for their year's work and the results of the season, and how they are enjoying the activities, venue, and fan support. And a venue such as FL will generate very good fan support among PSU fans. And the other focus is on WINNING the game, regardless of the opponent. And PSU now has a chance to beat a ranked SEC opponent, which should be a motivator to the team and will be a positive on the recruiting front.
