Austin Gomez representing Mexico beats his Indian opponent 8-7.
He was up 5-0 early then began to fade and give up takedowns. Looked familiar 😆 He was lucky he didn't get a step out against him with 7 secs left
The Iranian at 74 kg also unfortunately won his repechage match and will be wrestling for third.
Nick Lee gets Austin Gomez in the next round!
If Austin fades like that against Nick it won't be pretty for him.
Lee just needs ride out that early storm from Gomez then Nick will pick him apart.

I thought it was over when Nick Lee had Gomez gutted. Lee went up 6-0 then a nice head pinch exposure for Gomez. 6-2. Then Gomez with a step out 6-3 Lee at break
Wow! Lee with the Fall! Gomez went Greco bomb mode 3 times in row and Lee was just too savvy. Stacked him up!
In the chest wrap Gomez coaches kept yelling go get him. Lol. Not with Nick Lee. Pin
Nick has to have some of the most underrated hips and balance in the game! That was awesome!

How in the hell did Lee avoid points the first two tries? Hell, how did Gomez? I couldn't believe the went from feet to mat, yet neither scored. Impressive! Obviously, the 3x Nick would have none of that nonsense

Yeah he looked good in that match. Fast, strong and totally in control.
I watched part of Sadulaev's match against an inferior opponent from South Africa and he didn't look great to me. We shall see.
Waking up late here, but watched Nick's match against Austin Gomez on tape, and Snyder's match against Canada. Both looked sharp.
Also, no one asked but that was Cornell's 197 from a few years ago, Ben Honis, losing to Iran.

Just watching it reminded me of all the reports of how deceptively strong Nick is.
They’ll keep wrestling until the semis are set. That’d be 2 more matches for Nick if he wins.

I have noticed that the women wrestlers from India all wear their hair very short. Does anyone know why that is?
Jen Page onto the quarters with three four-point moves, including a head and arm throw when she was only ahead 1-0. Pretty close to a pin there as well.
