FB Recruiting West Virginia flips Penn State stander WR commit Devin Carter

PSU gives him a much better opportunity than wvu to be drafted in the first couple rounds, but apparently a short-term nil deal worth a few more dollars is more important. It would be nice to see him get shut out of any receptions on sept 2.

Kalen King, Johnny Dixon, and Storm Duck are going to say hello to this punk in about 8 and a half months.

Can't wait...

Yea, only the coaches should get paid and universities , lol
That did not ruin what a fanbase roots for... These are educational facilities not a G league. NIL takes the student part of student athlete out of that equation. The money the universities make from athletics could go to ALL students. Put it towards lowering tuition of non-athlete students, since athletes ALREADY get a free education as well.

A free education isn't close to what they bring in for Penn State.

NIL money doesn’t come from the school.

To the highest bidder....

JoePa would be saddened to see how the game has evolved.
He would be saddened by the NCAA execs, media execs, conference execs, soul selling university presidents, carousel coaches, but not sure he would blame 'the kids' getting thrown into this 'all for the money' industry of college sports.

He wouldn't--he would have loved it

Except that most Athletic div 1 programs operate in the red and 'all non athlete students' tuition goes up. Some schools even have a line item on tuition invoices that records a payment for athletic programs.

Get rid of non revenue producing sports. Problem solved.

Well back to scouring the portal for a WR. What options do we have?
We always have the option to start playing the money game like everyone else is. Nobody here likes the game but thats the game and right now we ain't playing it so we ain't winning it.

I would agree but not completely. Many collegiate football programs would still run in the red. Many non revenue generating collegiate programs do not require expensive facilities, salaries etc. wrestling, volleyball, field hockey, baseball, lacrosse, swimming, diving etc ..probably the biggest expense is travel and lodging for away games and tournaments and the number of events requiring travel are not that many. Shared facilities are common...strength and conditioning and rehab facilities... example BJC.

Example of one exception: Hockey 🏒. For those sports find a corporate sugar daddy.... The ice cube... Pegula. (Perhaps the sugar daddy approach should be fostered more for all non revenue sports.)

Alum have bitched about the BJC not being perfect for some of the sports played there. But it's damn smart business. In the end, it is the play that matters.... Great play makes an imperfect environment a much better environment.

Pimping passionate alumni sugar daddies is a great way to acquire funding for non revenue sports.

Our Corners won't even get a chance to shut him down with the relentless pass rush from Manny and the gang. Does WVU even have an OL to block or QB to get him the ball?

No, but they have stupid NIL donors, but NFL.

Or get rid of all mean and women's (am I permitted to uses those terms?) sports and only have combined sports for all programs. That'll deal with all kinds of problems being faced.

Not true.
10 conference home games×8,000 per game equals 80 thousand in hoops
7 home matches, 5 at rec hall ×6500 is 32.5, plus 2x15000 bjc is 30 total of 62,500...

Yep you are correct and I stand corrected, but wrestling will be less than 20 grand in the margin, and average roughly the same per event

I have another plan. Games played in front of less than 1000 fans should all be cancelled. Pretty dumb to put a team on a plane and travel 500 miles to play in an empty stadium. If the fans don't care about the game then why play it? Non revenue producing sports conference affiliations should be dumped. Those games can be replaced with local games vs non conference rivals.

Sure. If you can sell that to the alum.
Wrestling goes. Hockey would go under your plan. I'd first look for Pegula like sponsorship... First then for those non revenue sports that do not get sponsorship... move them to your plan.
