Trib article today re: naming field after Paterno

They still play Michael Jackson songs on the radio and he was the abuser of children.
The don't play Gary Glitter's songs anymore as he was an abuser of little kids.

Go figure.
Society seemed ready to cancel Michael Jackson a couple years ago. But MJ fans put up a fight and rightfully convinced most Americans that “Leaving Neverland” was full of errors and inconsistencies.

Yet. Penn Stater are too afraid to put up a fight.
Michael Jackson was a child molester. You could plainly see that from a mile away. In hindsight almost everyone, except a few people in law enforcement, should have done more.
Thats what I used to believe. He was a weird dude for sure. But all of his accusers have major credibility issues.

I don't know about MJ. I don't even know about Jerry Sandusky, besides the obvious facts. 1) He was tried in the court of public opinion as part of the prosecution's strategy.; 2) He did not get a fair trial. 3) PSU suspiciously paid out $60 million to, IMO, cement a narrative that was full of lies.

I believe we live in a world where the press is told what to say/write, and that we should question every single narrative we hear.

Who cares. We venerate way to many people in society. I'm all for Paterno field or Paterno Street but I could care less if does or doesn't happen.
Joe was a great football coach, one of the best ever. He did many, many great things. He also oversaw something that happened under him that was very, very awful.
I do not think Joe oversaw it any more than you did!!!

Michael Jackson’s problem was that he had a bit of a conscience instead of being a complete psychopath like most child molesters. That’s why he had to drug himself into a coma every night just to be able to sleep.

Yep, but to be fair, Joe really doesn’t have any accusers. Other than the obviously BS 1970s accusers, one of whom was a lifelong PSU season ticket holder whose daughter posted on Facebook that she was outraged that Joe was fired.

None of the Sandusky trial accusers have ever blamed Joe. One key trial accuser actually got his picture taken with Jay Paterno at a PSU game the fall after Sandusky’s trial and posted it to facebook.

Also, both Mike McQueary and Tim Curley remain strong supporters of Joe Paterno, which would make no sense if you believe Paterno told either to “keep quiet” about Sandusky.

True. The thing that gets me is that even if Jerry Sandusky really is the only pedo in history to not consume porn and somehow get a bunch a straight teenage boys to engage in sex with him (and remain friends with him into adulthood) using only church clothes, old golf clubs, and PSU tickets during a time when the team wasn’t even that good, there is plenty of evidence that exonerates Joe. Notably all the statements of “Victim 2” before and after Sandusky’s arrest (I acknowledge the possibility that young man may now honestly believe he was groomed by Sandusky, so he is not technically lying when he claims to be an abuse victim, but it’s clear there was no sexual contact)

But even Paterno supporters are too afraid to bring up that fact. Seems they avoid anything that even remotely makes Sandusky look less of a monster. Instead, they are drawn to ridiculous conspiracy theories like Sandusky was “protected” by a powerful group of men associated with the 2nd Mile, and those men may have killed Ray Gricar.

Eagle , I was responding to the idiots on the board who are spewing all the accusations against Joe, although there are not many! I'm disgusted with these people who don't have a bit of the morals Joe showed throughout his life!
