He was 77 and suffering from a number of serious ailments including stomach cancer, heart disease and dimentia. He will forever be loved for his role in Blazing Saddles, his Monday Night Footbalk commentary, and his great football career.

Great line, written by late great comedian Richard Pryor. Pryor joined the Blazing Saddles writers and took over writing for the Mongo character.

Pryor’s creative wit added a wider range of zaniness to scenes, that pleasantly surprised Mel Brooks. Those lines and memorable Mongo stunts were masterfully delivered by Alex Karras.

Mongo’s entrance scene is like no other...
