PSU Big Ten PreSeeds

Sucks Meredith is 14 seed he will have to wait till the finals to pin Spencer Lee. I was hoping 13 seed and a semi final tech fall.

In all sincerity I think 6 seed Rasheed is better than 4 or 5. If he can go run he can take out warner

Sorry, traveling and can’t check until Wednesday at the earliest. Were mine close to the conference picks. The PSU wrestlers are easy, just want an honest, overall check. I can look mid-week.

First glance you were highly accurate. Loved the accuracy of 133 and 141. Loved how you called out putting Joey Silva at the 8 in the comments as he was out and then Joey Silva winds up being the 8

Thank you. Also, can I just say, I'm a huge fan! The new Jumanji movie was hilarious!

Seabass up top with Gross at 133 while RBY and Desanto are on the bottom half.

Assuming these hold, and they typically do with a few random exceptions...

125 Seems right. Meredith will need to pull off an upset or two to finish in the top 8.
133 they put Sebastian Rivera 5th despite having no resume this year, but still makes some sense because it'd be unfair to whoever would have to face him in a pigtail if they slotted him 14th. So Gross has to get through Rivera or Piotrowski, and RBY DeSanto the other potential semi.
141 Seems like Lee and Pletcher in the finals is a very safe bet
149 Verk should face Sasso again in the quarters, and he wrestled him pretty well in the dual. 149 has 10 B1G slots, so Verk seems like a safe bet to get in here.
157 Bo Pipher has his work cut out from him at 13 with the B1G only getting 6 slots. That should put him against Will Lewan, who had a good year but keeps the scores low.
165 Cenzo set to face Isaiah White again in semis, and then likely Marinelli again in finals.
174 Hall (2) and Dylan Lydy in semis. Lydy's only loss is to Kemerer 8-4, but he needed SV to beat Joey Gunther recently. He also went to SV in wins over Jacob Covaciu, Ben Harvey, Bryce Steiert, and Mikey Labriola. All scores 3-1. I'm confident Hall can take him down, though. Then it'd be a rematch vs Kemerer in the finals.
184 Aaron Brooks debuts at the top seed and is on course to face Taylor Venz in the semis, Brooks' only loss. Venz has many other B1G losses though. Caffey and Aasad are on the other side of the bracket.
197 Shak gets the 6 seed, which seems generous given the 5-4 record, but the only guys he's lost to are seeded ahead of him. He'll have to go through Jacob Warner again. B1G only gets 6 slots, so Shak will need to wrestle to seed to ensure a ticket to Minnesota.
HWT At the 7 seed Seth will see Gable Steveson in the quarters. B1G got 7 slots so he'll need to wrestle to seed or better.

What the PSU guys would need to do to qualify (assuming no crazy upsets)

125: Meredith loss to McKee in opening round likely puts him in consolation with Heinselman (OSU). Win that and beat the loser of the likely #4/5 semifinal (Cardini/Medley) and he would finish in top 8.
133: Bye and then beat #7 Alvarez/#10 Pepple winner to guarantee a top six place by getting to semifinals
141: Bye then beat #8 Fillius/#9 Mattin winner to get to semifinals and guarantee a top six.
149: If beats both Thomas of Northwestern and Sasso he is in. Beats Thomas and Losses to Sasso, he has the loser of Purriton and Parriott for a top eight finish. Loss there and he would go into 9th/10th place bracket. Loss to Thomas in first round, he would get a consolation bye and he would likely have to beat the winner of Purriton/Parriott who likely losses to Lugo in the semifinals.
157: This is a tough ask. Gets Lewan. With loss, would likely have to beat Model, Tucker, and Robb if all seeds hold. With only six spots, he will likely have to beat two of the #5-8 seeds. If he can beat Lewan and Thomas that gets him to semis. If he beats Lewan, losses to Thomas, would have Cleary/Silva and then also need to beat most likely the winner of Barone and Van Brill from prelims.
165: Bye and then wins against O'Reilly/Hughes winner gets him to semi (top six guarantee)
174: Bye and then win over Gunther/Scott winner gets him to semi (top six guarantee)
184: Bye and then win over Webster/Sebastian winner gets him to semi (top six guarantee)
197: Wroblewski in round 1, wins that and beats Warner he makes semi (guarantee qualifier in top 6). Losses to Warner and he would have likely have May/Watkins winner, Striggow/Smith winner, needs to win both for top six.
285: Esposito in round 1, win that and he gets Steveson. Dropped into consis and would likely have Penola/Luffman loser and then Traub to get in top six. Loss to Traub and he would likely have Penola/Luffman winner for 7th and final spot.

To be fair about what each wrestler needs to do to qualify: RBY, Nick, Cenzo and Hall only need to wrestle 1 match. When at large is awarded, there are no wrestlers with criteria higher than them, let alone 3-4 of them.

Brooks does need to wrestle thru to the qualifying placing because nationally there are several with better criteria BUT....they would all have to flop out.....and since that won’t happen, he doesn’t really need to either. That said....better to just qualify and not leave it to chance.

Good work tho...thanks. Always good to know a pathway.

That's some serious effort. Good job and ty for posting.

Brunner was injured in late January and hasn't wrestled since. I'm surprised he is listed. Possible he is a scratch, or that he goes at far less than 100%. Could give Shak a bump/boost.
Double edged sword. Davison is a more winnable quarters match. However, Brunner's spot would get thrown back into the at large pool, B10 would only get 5.
