Based off of the coaches rank from last week, the RPI rankings in wrestlestat, and a wrestler's DI winning percentage at their weight I went through to look at what the big 10 is looking like for allocations.

Just to note, this is not my attempt at a prediction of who will and won't make nationals, just who were earn an allocation slot for the conference. If somebody has an N/A for RPI I am guessing they will not meet the 15 match minimum.

Big Ten had 78 allocations last year and I think that number is going to be in the 84-88 range this year. If it ended up being all the minimums in my ranges the bid allocation would be 71, maximum in ranges gives the conference 100 allocations.

Interesting that Lance has a higher CR than Nevills.

I'm not too worried about Shak pulling out all the stops to earn an AQ spot for the B1G. He is plenty talented to place high at B1Gs.

How would 157 be affected by Berge, if he returns? Presumably, he would get a top 15 or so coach's ranking with just a couple good results since he was top 10 pre-injury? But he would only have a small handful of matches.

Berge would have to have at least 8 matches to qualify a spot for BIGs. Very unlikely at this point as he has only wrestled one match and per what Cael said it seems unlikely he wrestles again before BIGs.

And....match shape aside, a ready and confident Berge is taking 3rd/4th at Bigs and will qualify for NCAA. His seeding may be goofy tho.

Wow,I thought each team gets to wrestle 1 wrestler per weight class at the big tens.

Never worry too much about at large bids. If they can't earn their way in through the Big Ten qualifying process then does it really matter if they get an at large bid? I would think history proves that it doesn't.

The table is estimating how many automatic spots the B1G will have in the NCAA tournament. Every team gets 1 spot in the B1G conference tournament.

Berge not allowed to wrestle, because he been hurt? Football and basketball don't have these type of rules. Hell in basketball a one and done kid does not have to to class the second semester.

Huh? Who said Berge can;t wrestle? You need to lay off the sauce.

Teams can enter any rostered (and weight-certified) wrestler in the B1G championships. Regardless of how many matches he's wrestled prior to the tournament.

NoVa's wording is a little confusing at first glance, but it reads "to qualify an automatic spot for the B1G conference in the NCAA tournament", not "to qualify for a spot in the B1G tournament". He was answering me and I kind of did a double take at first, too, but he just means that Berge won't have enough matches for the B1G to get an automatic spot based on his ranking. He IS allowed to wrestle in the B1G tournament (assuming he's healthy by then) and can qualify for the NCAA tournament by finishing in the top X, based on X automatic allocations for the conference.

First, thanks "regular" for posting this. Second, the Berge situation, if it plays out the way we hope -- he wrestles well enough to get one of the slots -- means that someone who earned an allocation won't finish high enough at B1Gs to make it to the NCAAs automatically.
