Nothing will ever be that bad.
that offense was so bad Iowa took a late safety on purpose so they could give us the ball farther from the goal line. Even allowing a field goal would have lost Iowa the game.
And it was the right move.
I’m debating in my head whether this is worse than 6-4, only because there were much higher expectations for this team.
This loss is 100% on Franklin. He was checkmated by his own decisions in the Iowa game and before this game even started: the constant musical chairs of assistant coaches, starting the season without a viable backup QB, replacing an O line coach with one who can’t develop players, the obsession with a big play offense that can’t manage to convert a 3rd and short. All of these things will get you killed in the BIG and he should know this by now.
I realize the injuries are significant this year, but the difference is that teams that are actually elite have the depth to cope with them much better than this squad. Even if we have the depth, it seems to take us much longer to get players ready to play.

How ironic that CJF was beat by a backup QB today.
Either the offensive line coach, the players or both. Our line is putrid. Very little if any push. You simply can’t run the ball this poorly and do well
Our O was like Sysiphus. I honestly think we win with Roberson giving a run threat.
Neither QB for Illinois was worth anything today. The best thing that happened was when they'd drop back to pass. Bielema is an idiot for not ending this charade in the 3rd OT after gouging us for 300+ yards on the ground. He ended up getting his starter (for this game, at least) a broken arm. He's as much of an idiot as Franklin. Difference is one guy made a play.
I thought Illinois should've ran 2 sneaks from the 4 in the 1st or 2nd OT.
The offense in the 6-4 game was putrid but at least the defense was good. This team has no offense and no defense.
Its certainly in the top 10. 23 point favorites at home with everything to paly for against the worst team in the BIG. Simply embarrassing.

If he is as handicapped as he was today in future games, there’s a significant chance he will get more seriously injured. He couldn’t move very well and he couldn’t make a lot of his usual throws, which means defenses are likely to get more shots at him in the pocket. An oh, by the way, our pass protection also sucks.
