Call against Michigan State may have been the worst of the year.

You are absolutely right about the rule.

It was explained by the B1G that what they were reviewing was if the receiver was TOUCHED (contact), not if he went out of bounce. It was obvious he went out of bounce. If he was TOUCHED (made contact) IN ANY WAY, since it was originally a "judgment call", the play had to stand. It was non-reversible. If the replay showed that he WASN'T touched (made contact) IN ANY WAY, they would have reversed the play.

As per the rule you quoted, of course "touched" and "contact" mean the same thing. No one from the B1G has said it was good call or the right call per the "judgment" end of it, but have merely said technically, as per the rule you stated above, it was non-reversible.

This is all for the better betterment of the conference. When OSU wins national titles we all win. You guys should be on your knees thanking God for the officials sorting out these egregious rules infractions by these upstart teams. They have a darn tough job.

Actually, Michigan State losing to a horrible Nebraska team was bad for "the Conference".

Even if Nebraska beats Rutgers next week, they will still be sub - .500 going into the Iowa game. Would mean a heck of a lot more to "the Conference" (and Ohio State) on a National scale to have an undefeated Michigan State play an undefeated Ohio State than an undefeated Iowa playing a 5-6 Nebraska (assuming Nebraska beats Rutgers next week).
