I would love sasso or mchenry but I think mchenry is going to be a beast as a career 125. He is so slick and seems to have a bit of an edge to him as well which I believe bodes well for the college level. Sasso will be good as well but is at a weight PSU just doesn't need. I hope he ends up at ASU with Chlebove. He slots in nicely there and it keeps him from Iowa and tOSU.

Such an impressive list of recruits for 2018.

Maybe Intermat will find it in them to rank that '18 PSU class as high as #4 or #3 ....

Awesome....RBY will be beating Fix at 133 if they are both there after a year or 2 in our room....Hearing good things about Joey McKenna too....DYNASTY !!!!

Yes. Recently beat Doug Zapf and Jaret Lane while weighing in at a shade under 105.

Cael and Cody should be making McHenry there #1 priority....He is going to be the number 1 recruit in the country soon....The young man is UNREAL...."Super Quick "

Put me down as wanting McHenry as well. Slots in perfectly after Nick.

Cael recently followed him on twitter. He doesn't do that whimsically.
I have been around wrestling coaching included for 40 years and i have never seen anyone like this Kurt McHenry young man....SUPER QUICK....He will be the #1 recruit in the country soon....4 year 125 pounder....He is only a Soph now....Perfect replacement for Nick S.

I don't know how anyone looks at a 10th grader and decides we want that kid. Kurt Phipps may pound Mchenry next year for all anybody knows. What's Busiello weigh? I can name a handful of young PA kids for him too.

Busiello wrestled 120 this past year, I think, so it stands to reason he could be a 133 or 141 by the time he gets to PSU. A sophomore at 106 is most certainly a 125 for at least multiple years in college, but who knows how much he is cutting.

Putting aside Spyker's histrionics ... you didn't want SO Spencer Lee because Austin DeSanto might get him? Didn't want Teasdale or Zain or Jason? Snacks? Snyder?

Add onto that how hard it is to find a career 125 ... Yeah, as a fan I want him. If Cael decides otherwise, I trust him.

David Taylor was a sophomore 103.

Busiello wrestled 120, but was quoted in an article that he could have wrestled 113 just chose not to. Guess he didn't want to cut anything. I'm not going to for sure slot him into any weight right now for PSU.

McHenry is cutting nothing at all. He wrestled 106 weighing in at low 90s as a frosh. This past year he was underweight for a 106 all season, I think his weigh-in for ETR was 103 or 104 IIRC for 108/109 weighins. And as lemonpie pointed out he has been wrestling after the season weighing in around 105 to 107 at a couple events - willie posted on here that he weighed in at 107 when he wrestled 120 at Pop and Flo

I'll take Sam Hillegas or Bartlett and be happy. Dice, what are these guys weighing in at most events? Thanks so much

Bartlett was a FR 120. He'll never see college 125.

Hillegas maybe as a FR 113, but he looked on the lean side, guessing he won't be a 125 either but its not as clear to me.

No idea. Hillegas and Bartlett don't wrestle at ETR and the only reason I knew about McHenry's other weigh ins is because willie posted it on here a month or so ago.

I would agree with this. I was at a preseason event last year where Hillegas was and I think he was competing at 125 - this was before he even entered HS. I think he might have been pulling some weight at 115, but that was where he had a shot to win the title. He wasn't beating Chlebove.

That sounds like Jordan Oliver his first two years of high school. Without knowing the size of the parents, it's always hard to estimate a final college weight class. DT was very light when he was young but based on the size of his father Cael was estimating 157 in college and he couldn't even hold that for more then two years.

The Kyler kid from Clearfield was small all through High School, attended West Point and wrestled 149 as a senior. Brian Jones from P-O wrestled as a small 103 pounder as a soph, wrestled 112 as a senior and by the time he was 20 years old he was almost 6 feet 180#.
A 106 pound sophomore may or may not be a 125 pounder in college

bizarre take.

mchenry is (and will be) a hammer. terrific career 125 prospect. perhaps the best in hs right now, including fellow world teamer heinselman.

and no one at 106 nor 113 in PA is beating him right now.

I didn't say right now. I said next year. Point being is there are kids out there that haven't even hit puberty that may end up being better prospects that may conflict with accepting a commitment from a kid like that who is in 10th grade. Not bizarre at all

A kid ends up beating a kid like Busiello a couple times and PSU is the place he wants to be what do you do? Pull the offer or live with the fact that while Busiello was the best kid in the country in 10th grade, it turns it maybe he didn't keep progressing at the rate you thought or a couple late bloomers came along. Now you have Number 5 instead of Number 1. Why offer the kid in 10th grade? Does psu football do it? Keep in mind football has a ton of schollies and can make a mistake here and there too. So while you may not have the same opinion, I hardly see wanting to wait until the kids are a little further along as bizzare

Chalk--there are no offers for kids in 10th grade. Our coaches can't even contact him. A 10th graders is just declaring his (non-binding) intent to go to a school. PSU cannot make any kind of a commitment to him at that age.

Busiello will not touch Mchenry.....I take it you never saw Kurt wrestle ? He will be the number recruit in the country next season....Not taking anything away from Busiello but Cael and our staff MUST go after Mchenry really hard....They already know that too....

Just watched those videos. He looks great against what I assume is an elite level opponent. My concerns come from commitable offers to 16 year olds which I now know don't exist lol. So yes. Let him pledge his allegiance. If someone bypasses him he just doesn't get an offer next year or whenever it is colleges are permitted to extend one.

Captain Obvious says Busiello won't touch McHenry as long as he stays 2+ weight classes larger.

McHenry won't be the #1 recruit in 2019 either. That will be Cohlton Schultz.

You're piling the same accolades on McHenry as you did Carr. Impressive. Where do we stand with Carr? Think we have a shot with him? How do you think Carr would do against, I don't know, Joe Lee?

Busiello will not touch McHenry?????

It's painfully obvious given we already have results from McHenry wrestling 120lbers that it's probably the other way around McHenry will not touch Busiello. Of course, as El Jefe, pointed out they are two weight classes apart right now (at least, given what McHenry weighs right now it could be argued that he is more of a true 100lb wrestler right now, so it could be more like 3 weight classes) so I'm not sure what the hell having seen Kurt wrestle has to do with? I'm not sure YOU have with your comment above.

Dice, take it easy on Spyker. He's merely reporting what he saw in the room.

Of course you'd think that about Schultz. I mean.... he beat Hoffman!
