As aggressive as our blitzing seems at times, it's usually accompanied with zone coverage where our DBs are off enough that 5-10 yards is easily open. How often do we bump and run? How often do our safety's sit deep and wait for the play to occur?
There is a lot of BBDB built into our defense. The closest I saw us go to selling out was the 4th down pass completion, and realistically, why did we think we needed 11 to stop that play? Pitt couldn't push the pile all game.
We finally blew up the screen in the 4th quarter once, but how many did we give up prior?
Our DEs have been severely underwhelming to date. Toney seems tired on 3rd and long after fighting 50+ lbs guys for two downs. YGM is a mystery. Oweh is still learning and just isn't ready yet it appears. Why we haven't lined him up wide and let him try to go inside I'm not sure, but every rush of his looks the same. And seldom do we ever create a conflict on the OL. We rely too much on winning 1-on-1 battles, and this unit has not gotten it done thus far.
Our best blitz all game: Brooks up the middle, coming off his normal stance. OL shifted for the DL and the middle was open. TFL on the run.
Teams know we are fast. They are installing hot reads. They are planning on getting the ball out fast. We are playing into this.
