When does the team leave for CA?

Depending on where they’re staying and traffic, the bus ride from the hotel may take longer than the airplane flight.

They are gathering in SoCal on the 26th. Depending on where they are coming from they will meet there. Others closer to State College will take the team flight. Their last practice in SC was Tuesday.

Not that this answers the OP's question, but I know for a fact that the band leaves from SC on the 30th, for a bus ride to Harrisburg then flight to CA.

Was traveling back from HBG today and saw two caravans of PSU buses with the first being 5 buses around Lewistown at 11:30am heading south. The next was 4 buses, I think, just north of Lewistown 30 minutes later.
