So Spieth is Pretty Good...(OT)

Wow.

I would have liked to see Johnson get back into this but Spieth is just a freak.

Through the first 9 holes I think Speith recorded 11 putts (4 under for today) - Johnson had 18 putts through first 9 (including a 4 putt double and a 2 putt birdie from 15-20 feet) to post a score of 1-under for day. The difference has been the flatstick to the tune of like 7 strokes.

If DJ could ever learn to putt............nevermind, we've been saying that for years. He's missed several good birdie looks today. Very frustrating.

He's missed 3 from inside 10 feet and 4-putted for double at 5! (he did get screwed at 8 - hit the pin on 2nd shot or would have had a very short putt for eagle. Pin spit it straight back & he ended up 2-putting for birdie from about 20 feet.). If Speith were putting Johnson's ball once on green, Johnson would be 4- or 5-under.

Well, gotta admit....I don't ever recall seeing a ball go in for a hole-in-one off another ball!

Three on #16 so far.....will we see a fourth today?

Another 2-putt birdie for DJ (had a very make-able putt from inside 15 feet @ 13 for eagle and lagged it????). He's going to end this round with double-digit more putts than Spieth!

Speith just blocked the crap out of it at another par 3, #12, he paid for it this time unlike #4. He's probably going to be even par after 12 for the day - he'd probably be more like 3-over if he wasn't putting just lights out. DJ is 2-under for the day thru 12 with a 4-putt double and two 2-putt birdies (e.g., he's got like 26 putts through 13 holes & is still 2-under for the day, that's mind-boggling!).

Looks like we're going to have an interesting finish. Speith chunking that wedge looked like me, although his form is still better.

Holy $hit Speith just chilly-dipped his 3rd shot after dropping, redropped and hit his 5th into back buncker at 12th!?!?

Spieth has been pretty rough in his ball striking this whole time, and it finally caught up with him. His putting has been off-the-charts great.

DJ did go for it @ 15 & hit a tell of a shot - 20 feet for eagle.

Missed it - DJ is now -3 for the day with a 4-putt double & now three 2-putt birdies all from inside 20 feet on extremely makable eagle putts (and 30 putts through 15!). Little doubt that DJ is the best player tee-to-green out here, but he is a really bad putter, especially for a pro!

LMFAO, Johnson's ball doesn't take a bounce forward off the backboard ridge on right-side of green like virtually every other ball they've shown landing in that area - it stops dead and rolls back a few feet! Ball bounces forward & it it's a tap in, as it is it is still makable for most players not named Dustin Johnson.... DJ was born under a dark cloud.

Wow, Willet just got a "seeing eye" lucky bounce @ 18 on a ball that landed both short and right of the green - the ball pitched forward such that it bounced left onto fringe of green and rolled forward and to the left a good 30 feet from where it landed straight toward the hole. His day with bounces like that!

Honestly, it's a freaking miracle DJ is top 5 in another major the way he putts - absolutely mind-boggling. He's going to finish today with like 37 or 38 putts!?!?

Wow, that might have been Spieth's worst putt of the day @ 16 - didn't even catch a piece of the hole, over-borrowed and hit it with pace.....that combo didn't make sense - had to be a mis-read.

Man, Spieth has had a bad case of the blocks with his short-irons all day long (and again at 17, same shot.....wide right). You don't see pros miss with 7 and 8 irons by that much very often.
