Also saw that former Wimbledon champ Jana Novotna (49 years old; cancer) and David Cassidy passed as well (has this been confirmed?). One of the things that always struck me about Manson was that he never actually killed anyone.

He did, just not during the high profile killings. Authorities are pretty sure he killed some people but they couldn't prove it.

How ridiculous that he was sustained on government funds from 1971 (and earlier due to prior imprisonment) until now. Sentenced to death until death penalty was ruled unconstitutional by the California Supreme Court in 1972, but when it was later reversed he remained in a life sentence. Lives to 83, food, shelter, medical, and supervision all paid for while so many poor and homeless suffer without. Just hard to believe he was graced with a long life.
