Quite honestly it's not clear what the narrative regarding 1998 really is.
Wahhh!!!!! Let's forget about the people's lives/reputations she helped ruin, and the children that she helped put in harms way... and just be nice to her!

2. JS resigned his volunteer position with Central Mountain HS(CMHS gave him the boot).
3. JS's volunteer position with same HS ended in 2009(false once again, it was Nov '08).

Ganim's original 3/31/2011 story still contains there errors.
It wasn't a "Police Investigation" either - as per PA CPS Law, the DPW Investigation supersedes until they either find it has basis and "Indicate" it along with forwarding to LE for prosecution OR they mark it "Unfounded" which it automatically becomes if they do nothing and allow the initial report to lie dormant for 6 weeks. BTW, the 1998 DPW Investigation was initiated by Alycia Chambers, a "Mandatory Reporter" as the family's child therapist, call reporting the matter to DPW's Child Abuse Hotline, where she identified herself as a Mandatory Reporter, why she was a Mandatory Reporter in this situation and why she did not Report it to the local DPW CYS Office (Centre County CYS Office) - i.e., because Centre County CYS was conflicted with TSM and the boy was PARTICIPATING IN A CYS PROGRAM at the time of the situation she was REPORTING!
Lauro then claimed that he didn't know who Alycia Chambers was or know anything about her "Psychology Report and Analysis" of the situation - this despite Alycia Chambers being the MANDATORY REPORTER who initiated the DPW Child Abuse Hotline Report that had DPW assign Lauro from the Harrisburg Office to the case in Centre County! A Report from Chambers to Lauro/DPW where Chambers identified herself as a Mandatory Reporter, why she was a Mandatory Reporter (i.e., the child in questions therapist) and why she was going directly to DPW Harrisburg rather than the local DPW CYS Office as she would usually do (i.e., Centre County CYS was CONFLICTED in regards to TSM, the very entity responsible for the child who was participating in a TSM PROGRAM when the potential abuse occurred!!!!). IOW, DPW's Harrisburg "Child Abuse Investigator", based out of the State-Level DPW Offices in Harrisburg, is a LIAR when he says he didn't know anything about Chambers, who she was (i.e., the child's therapist) and that it wasn't HIS INVESTIGATION and REPORT which threw the findings in regards to 1998 and literally declared Sandusky "completely innocent" despite Chambers Report which identified Sandusky as a "groomer" at the very least and somebody who should have been "Indicated" (which is not disclosed to the public) at the very least as a consequence of 1998!!!!
Sandusky resigned from the TSM, when in fact he actually formally resigned in Oct 2010, and while he was not permitted to continue with his access to children after he and TSM were INDICATED and IMPLICATED in the first months of 2009 (a Formal DPW Investigation and "Indicated" Report of CSA that was handed over to AG Corrupt Corbutt on 3/3/2009 with a request for prosecution, as Corbutt's own 5/1/2009 Statewide Investigating Grand Jury clearly acknowleges), Sandusky was permitted to continue being the face of, and the primary fundraiser for, The Second Mile by Corrupt Corbutt (who even allowed the Chairman of the Board of The Second Mile, Bob Poole - also good buddies with Corbutt's Political Mate Jake Corman, the "PA GOP Senate Majority Leader" and former Board Member of TSM - to host a "Fundraiser Dinner Party" at his own personal residence to support Corbutt's Gubernatorial run in Jan 2010!).
Ganim's contention that PSU is responsible for Sandusky's TSM-Provided ACCESS to children is as STUPID and ILLOGICAL as claiming that PSU is responsible for Sandusky's Adoption and Foster Parenting Activities with the State of Pennsylvania -- programs whereby he accessed sole-custody to children in numbers greater than at even TSM!!! But Ganim didn't ask question 1 about all of Sandusky's STATE-SPONSORED ACCESS TO CHILDREN via State Court Appointed Adoption, Foster Parenting, etc..... PLACEMENTS DONE USING JACK RAYKOVITZ and TSM to do the "psych evaluations" on both sides of these placements (IOW, rubber-stamp the placements even when birth mother's strenuously objected to them via the courts like with Matt Sandusky!!!). Go figure, crack investigative journalist Ganim had no curiosity whatsoever in regards to THE STATE's malfeasance in Sandusky accessing children after 1998 via failures of the DPW and LE including the AG (ditto after 2008) - go figure!

The original question was asking what errors she had made. A few have been indicated. They may be slight in and of themselves but collectively they could suggest sloppiness in the overall work and method.
That's fine, but in a case where she was breaking the news often, her hit rate was pretty damn good. And if we want to be intellectually honest, her overall reporting was very accurate and far better than what we have seen the last 10 years or so out of newspapers and media.
