He's one of the great PSU coaches that you hate to see step down, but he is definitely deserving of retirement. Thank you Russ and congratulations, enjoy your retirement!
Hard to believe. Thought he had another few years in him but the game has changed and the transfer portal has not been kind to PSU either. I hope he was not forced out. Legends should leave on their terms.

He’s the Bear Bryant of women’s VB. They better throw him a big retirement party.
He's continuing in an advisory role within the athletic department, so i really doubt he was forced out.
What a great run. Not only made PSU a major power in the field but changed the entire college WVB world. Prior to our emergence of a great power women’s volleyball was mostly a west coast game and got very little tv coverage. Penn State made it a national sport which brought wide television coverage. It is now a huge college sport. New emphasis in the BIG TEN which is now the dominate conference.

Great man. Great coach. He is what penn state should always cherish.
Second that. Unlike many others, he always supported JoePa. Best of luck to him in his retirement. He will be missed.
He had such a great run. 43 years as coach? You just don’t see that anymore.
7th highest win % in all D1 sports history. Whoa.
Nah, even better, the Joe Paterno of women’s volleyball.
Apples and oranges. Joe helped Penn State (with the the help of a lot of people) become a national brand. His influence went far beyond the football field. Russ would be the first to tell you that. He was a huge Paterno fan. Nonetheless Rose is an all time legend in his sport.
Interesting that he picked now to retire. There will be a new AD and a new President soon and he could have stayed on until new people are appointed and in place. Does retiring now say he has faith in the current people? Does it say he doesn’t have faith in the BoT in getting quality people? Am I reading too much into it?
Could be his health. Or health of wife or some one close to him. Other issues come into play.....sickened by the portal system? Just thought the timing was interesting.
