the simplicity of his music was his genius. Kind of like Carole King....pure voice and melody.

Crappy! RIP. You can tell the quality of performers by their influences - I've long maintained Fiona Apple as my favorite singer/songwriter/performer and she introduced me to Bill Withers. Wonderful song and soulful performance from Fiona here...

I always thought that song was so smooth and beautiful. I think he did the song with Grover Washington, Jr. and the combination was just magnificent. Bad week music-wise with Adam Schlesinger of Fountains Of Wayne (one of my favorite groups) dying of CV. Ain't no sunshine indeed.
