With recent news of Levi not wrestling vs Teemer at the all star classic, supposedly Levi has a knee and teemer a concussion injury.

Could we see Mesenbrink go 157 and BearClaw at 165? BearClaw had a huge pin over the 8th ranked Fish of Michigan State at the black night open.

Not a chance unless Levi is seriously injured (and we have no indication of that).

First, with NCAA weight descent rules, Mesenbrink likely can't get to 157 until 12/10 or later.

Second, he'd be at a disadvantage for his first few matches back at 165. Which might mean against Amine -- an important match for B10 and NCAA seeding.

Third, matches at a different weight don't count toward NCAA seeding. So you'd be taking a national top 5-ish seed and risking him being around 15 -- which would mean a Round 2 match vs. O'Toole or Carr.

Such an unnecessary risk. And for what purpose -- so we can beat Hofstra by 40?

Agreed. Unless Levi is out for the for the whole season and Mesenbrink is the 157 for nationals, it's better to leave Mesenbrink in the spot where he'll compete at nationals. If Levi is out for a couple weeks or something like that (and I don't personally have any inkling at all that that's the case...), either Barraclough or Erik Gibson can try to make the descent to 157 instead to fill the spot (I think Gibson is allowed the 5 dates without burning his redshirt since he was a grey shirt last year, right?) or it's Connor Pierce wrestling up as an emergency fill-in.

Correct about Gibson being a true freshman and having the 5 matches available.

Not clear if either he or Bearclaw can drop to 157, physically or legally.

Does anyone know if either is certified at 157?
