I'm not saying he's a bust, but did you see the video of the practice? The problems with his shot aside (and they looked significant), he looked lost, totally without confidence. Not a good look. This is something I've never seen before, so I'm not sure exactly what to expect going forward.

Why don't we let it play out a little bit before we throw in the towel on the #1 overall pick. We saw him in summer league and he, and his shot, looked pretty terrific. Go watch the youtube videos.

Fwiw if you look at summer league and compare it to his college tape, you can see that he alread6 started to change his release point by summer league.

He was a 40% 3 pt shooter in college. He will get his shot back to where it was.

He should. It's just that I can't quite understand what's going on. I was more concerned with his body language in the video, not good, not healthy.

He had some (non-Sixers) advisors who messed with his shot to try and improve it. He then injured his shoulder making it painful to raise his arms over his head. He changed his shot further in an attempt to be able to play and avoid the shooting pain whenever he raised his arms over his head. They shut him down and got him to see specialists on his shoulder injury. He rehabbed that injury, it is mostly pain free now. He's trying to get his form back to where it was. That's the story. Oh, and he is a certified bust at 19.

Sure. I was wondering about his changing his shot; it seems to me that perhaps he was being told that he didn't have a quick enough release. (The Stephen Curry model seems to be all the rage.) But I never used the word "bust." And I haven't even mentioned what the coach had to say about it, "I've never experienced anything like this."

No, you never used the word "bust". Others in this thread have.

As I've said, he was a dominating college player. He was a very good shooter. He'll figure it out again.

The Sixers seem to have an odd tradition of "redshirting" their top draft choices, with various circumstances and injuries leading to little or no playing time in their first year. Ultimately, I suppose it doesn't matter much so long as the players develop and emerge. Embiid and Simmons are pretty good examples.

Game last night at Memphis was the perfect example of why this team needs Markelle Fultz to be Markelle Fultz. The sixers can't close out games right now, because the only player who create for himself is Embiid, and even he gets a little sloppy with the ball. They continue to turn the ball over at an extraordinary rate in crunch time. If the Fultz from UW was playing, it'd be easy to just let him iso a guy because at least you're probably not turning the ball over every time down the court.

Seriously, if this team figures out how to close games, they're heading for the conference finals.

They are extremely young and in fairness, this is the 1st year with Brett Brown's team, but to blow this many leads and to lose this many close games is unacceptable. Hopefully Fultz can recover and be as good as ever, but I think the Sixers are 1 FA away of making a serious run come playoff time. Still a lot of inexperience there.

Saric is really starting to play well. When he can hit threes, opens up the entire floor for everyone else.

Are we sure he was a great shooter? That 40% from 3 point range is great, but it was also a limited sample size. Another limited sample size we have is that he shot 65% from the free throw line. So which small sample size is the accurate reflection of his shooting ability? Or is it in the middle?

Anyway, it appears the Sixers didn't like his shot, tried to change it, it caused problems to his shoulder, and now he can't get it back, even as of yesterday's new video of him shooting FTs, just looks very odd.

People saying they've never seen anything like it before...I'm not so sure, I did see Rick Ankiel pitch before and after that playoff game.

I hope that's not he case, but LionJim and folks like myself are hardly the only ones concerned. I'm certain the Sixers could get almost nothing in return for him in a trade right now.

Damn! They wouldn't be able to get anything in a trade for him? What a shame. Too bad they aren't trying to trade him, right?

Looks like it may be a redshirt year, which Sixers fans are used to. He was a good shooter before, he'll be a good shooter again. Watch the summer league video I posted above. He's 19 years old, he'll figure it out. You were probably burying Embiid when he had to sit out two years as well. Starting in the All Star game.

Simmons had 19 points, 17 rebounds and 14 assists last night in the win. Thats some crazy stats.
It was Australian heritage night and it appears they were showcasing him by allowing him to play the point. Also they were missing TJ McConnell from the team due to a death in his family.

"Allowing him to play the point"? Where do you think he's been playing all year?

Doesn't Simmons always play the point?
Depends if Bayless or TJ are on the floor. Often they will bring the ball up the court. Bayless is still nursing a wrist and of course Reddick is out for a few weeks. They are pretty short handed at the moment. My point was that they didnt have any short guards left to handle the ball.

The Sixers don't have a good option with Fultz. Hopefully they win the lottery and the decision becomes much easier.

Actually wasn't doing that with Embiid at all, I loved that pick from the start. Is Fultz your son? Awfully defensive towards simple conversation about a very strange occurrence.

And no, they aren't trying to trade him right now, because they couldn't get anything even if they wanted to. Until he fixes his shot, nobody would trade anything for him. But of course if he does fix his shot, the Sixers would have no interest in trading him. So obviously it's not happening either way. Point is that the concern is legitimate enough that nobody would give up anything of value for him right now. Downplay it all you want, something is really strange about the whole thing.

Sixers are turning into a NASTY defensive team. Up 19 over the Spurs at half.

Fultz still feels "a bite" in his shoulder when he shoots, still not back to feeling good...

"Bobby Marks, NBA Front Office Insider for ESPN, on Golic and Wingo five minutes ago, asked where LeBron ends up next year, said "Philadelphia". No hesitation. References no gutting of the roster, we have Embiid, Simmons, Saric(yes, he named Dario), and we have the money."

LA is bowing out.
CLE is bowing out.
No one else actually even has money.

Lebron wants to get paid the Max, and the rumored teams don’t have max (outside of LA and staying in CLE). Every rumored team would have to get rid of a Star player, completely gut their roster, or somehow trade an untrade-able contract in order to free maximum money. None of these writers even do their homework anymore. They just throw out random teams.

The only current logical destination for Lebron is Philadelphia.

The Lakers have a ton of cap room and Lebron just bought his second home in LA. I find it very hard to believe they are bowing out of the race.

Fortunately, his shoulder does not bother him when he cashes checks or swipes his credit cards.

Which is why I've seen all the video of him dunking and throwing down windmill jams.

Its his head that's the problem, not his shoulder.......

How about Porzingis tearing his ACL? Tough break. Woz says Sixers are one of four teams going after Evans.

Has his All Star replacement been selected yet? Would be fun to watch Benny and 'Bron play together.

Nice win against the clips today. Taking care of inferior teams. Sixers are much better with redick back. 2 games out of the 5th seed.
