Nittany Lions starting slow from the field 3-for-10 including 1-for-5 from deep. Outerbounding Delaware State 9-5. Hold a 10-4 lead with 13:18 remaining.
Penn State has too many athletes…37-14 with 3:08 left in the half. Some things look good for PSU, some areas need some work, but what can we expect from the first game against a bad opponent?
Take a comfortable win and build on it. It's why playing a Delaware State opening night is smart.
Solid defense. A few too many turnovers. Too many quick 3s, but we made a bunch and started going away from playing inside out. Dread with a solid job as the color guy.
Bad for a general Big Ten basketball crowd, but decent for a PSU game against a MEAC school on a Monday night. Nice student turnout.

Who would have had our holdovers outscoring Delaware St at the u8 timeout of the second half? Who needs the transfer portal…
The bad was too many turnovers and a poor performance on the defensive glass. The good was our ability to contest shots and help on defense. Outside of putbacks and a few sloppy turnovers that led to easy baskets, we really made Delaware St work for it all night…very few good looks in the flow of their offense.
Won’t learn a whole lot about this team until Thanksgiving Day in Orlando (at least I hope we don’t). But did what we should do tonight.

Way too many turnovers, but we forced a lot too. Clary looked really good, Baldwin didn’t impress. We won big which is good, Rutgers lost.
It’ll be interesting to see how Baldwin adjusts to playing off the ball…he was a ball dominant guy at VCU, but seems Kanye will be the lead guard when they are paired together. Though he didn’t do much offensively, I did think Baldwin had a really good game defensively.
Our defensive effort tonight was the 5th best defensive efficiency and the 7th best eFG% defense of the Kenpom era (back to 1999). Not a bad start.
Big story tonight will be James Madison knocking off Michigan State at the Breslin in OT. JMU really played well down the stretch...but MSU couldn't make a 3 (1/20 on the night), and missed a lot of key FTs at critical points too. Good game.
